Badgers are notoriouly mean. I once witnessed one send a much larger rather aggresive german shepard my neighbors use to own packing with a bloodied snout .

If it was my problem Mr. Badger would say hello to a 150 grain Nosler ballistic tip out of my 7mag.

Try to find a live trap and catch it and take it to a remote area and turn it loose.
Or call the Game Warden. Why kill it ?
Do you have a 4 wheeler or snowmobile then try to run it off and if it leaves pie in it's cave.
Oh Wow that would be bad if it returned while you was in mid stream. Never mind that.
Have a heart and let it live if there's not a hunting season open for Badgers.

If it is tearing up his field I call that pest control. Nothing damages our field if we can do anything about it.

Around here the farmers don't want them killed because they eat rodents. The exception is if they are burrowing around fence posts or irragation equipement. I've heard it said that sage rats get about 1/3 of the first alfalfa cutting.
