| Member | Browning A-bolt Stalker in .338 WinMag. Howdy, I'm new to this forum. I traded a Uberti High Wall, 45/70 for a Browning A-bolt Stalker, in .338 Win Mag. It has the scope rings on it. I am wondering what type and size scope to put on it? I know you can Sheperd's for BIG BUCKS and Leapers for CHEAP. I don't plan to hunt, just use it for a sniper weapon, when the SHTF. If I need to hunt for game, I have no problem with that, to survive. I know it has a lot of kick, what scope can handle the shock? Natchez has some Browning(Bushnell made) scopes on sale. 3-9x40 for $159.00(I THINK?). Is that a good deal. It states it will handle the magnum shock. John Krzos |

| Senior Member | Buy the best you can afford. That does'nt mean you have to buy a $1500.00 scope but, Leupold, Nikon, Burris would be good choices and certainly will hold up to the recoil and are quality products. |

| Senior Member ![]() | A 3x9 Bushnell shouldn't be any place near that price. If you are doing any high volumn shooting the best way to go is a scope that says tactical on it.That is just about definitly going to mean $300.+.If you are planning strictly self defence/hunting it shouldnt be over straight 6x or 3x9.If you plan on target shooting,go with 4x12 to 4x16.Scopes can be bought best at gun stores because you can get to look through them and usually they will come down on price. sam. |
