I have removed hundreds, maybe thousands, of Carbine sights. No special tool, though. Just big nylon punch and big hammer. If stuborn I use a big brass punch(octogonal to easily hit only where you need pressure. Hoppes and my Mother-in laws' toothbrush removes the brass streak if necessary. For front secure really close to sight in vise so won't bend. Knock out pin, LtoRight, then use the big punches to bludgeon the fron st. forward. One must miss the key, though, as it is not free to move fwd and will jam up the works.Hence the huge octogonal punch on slternate sides adjacent to key when it appears. The rear is bludgeoned out as well taking care to set the big punches such that the pressure doesn't bend the "ears". Staking loose rears is hidden by rolling the sight to alternate sides and hiding the stakes under the sight body. |
