My Yugo SKS hates HP ammo

I always have an issues with chambering the first round when I load my SKS with HP ammo.

Guess I have to stick with FMJ and SP's. Anyone else have this issue with their SKS? I don't recall having this issue with my Norinco Paratrooper.

My Yugo is not too finicky. Likes the FMJ stuff best though.

I didn't have anymore problems with Wolf HP's than I've had with FMJ Wolf. Yet, my Yugo just absolutlet hates Wolf. lol

When you cleaned the rifle did you take out the magazine and clean the spring and feed lip,if you have a weak mag spring it may not be lifting up the Rd. high enough to feed reliably. Question is does it do the same thing with less Rds. say 5.

Do you have a detachable magazine? The only time I have had feed problems it was due to mag problems.Never had any problems with the factory magazine.

The hollow Points are so small they are not that much different from FMJ bullets to matter...Something else needs to be looked at...I shoot both without problem.

If it is detachable mags and they're metal, try bending the mag right in front of the follower. Mine has a flange of metal there that can be bent and depending on where you bend it, the follower sill stop in certain positions. You can bend it so the front of the follower is slightly higher than it was and thus the front of your bullet will be in a better position to slide into the chamber.

No, only on the 1st round.

Can't be. I never have issues with FMJ and SP's.

All of my guns have some issues with Wolf. Too many blown primers, hard primers, etc...

two things you can try
First load it from a stripper clip and before you release the bolt take your finger and push the last rnd down hard then release bolt see if it loads
Second . no stripper load a set of five in the mag by hand and then release bolt see if it feeds
then

Tried both of those. The first one doesn't work.

Works fine if I load less than 10.

That is weird, I would look at your stripper clips and see if there are any defects. I don't see why it will work loading less than 10 by hand and not with stripper clips. Odd

My Yugo as never had any problems, but all I have every shot out of it is Wolf loaded onto stripper clips, can't remember if they are all FMJ or if there are some HP in the mix too.

Is the mag nice and clean? Maybe there's some gunk in the bottom preventing the spring from setting properly in the bottom.

Oh and for the record, my Norinco eats Winchester, Remington, and Wolf(lacquer or poly coated) very well. I have had one or two instances of Wolf HP not feeding properly, but they're rare. Come to think of it, it hasn't happened in quite a long while.

If I remember right, my Yugo only liked FMJ Brown Bear. Anything else including HP would jam it. I always tell the story like it's a woman.

Don't hurt me fellow women members.

I am not sure what the problem is. The weapon is clean inside and out. I don't have issues as long as I am not shooting HP's, they just don't get guided into the chamber.

Maybe I just lucked out but my Yugo loves Wolf Blackbox HP's. Tight groups, never had a FTF/FTE. Its the only thing I feed it.

Maybe it's something with the Wolf. I haven't tried any other brands of HP's in this SKS, but never had issues of any kind with anything other than Wolf.

Just cleaned my SKS after having shot it from the other day and noticed that part of a primer had covered my firing pin and was stuck on there... It came off with one dry fire trigger pull, but the amount of hard primers and blown primers I am getting with Wolf ammo in every caliber is just getting ridiculous...

I know this isn't primer related (the feeding), but what is it about Wolf? It's the only ammo that gives me issues in any of the weapons I own. When I shoot better quality ammo, no issues...
