Part of the club?

Picked up Mossy from the local gun store yesterday. She's a Century Arms m-44 with Cherry wood :-). She was my first, and oh boy, she had a lot of cosmoline on her! But now shes beautiful, and she fires good too!

And I was also able to shoot this baby yesterday at the Michigan Militia Field Day:

Pretty good! What I found cool was the winner of their main competition won... a Mosin! I also found out the .50 Cal doesn't have much kick. It's like shooting a 12 gauge (it is loud though!)

Pretty amazing how little recoil the .50's have! As an ex-M2 instructor, I was really shocked!

Did it have a humongous muzzle brake? Was it magazine fed, or single shot?

I got to shoot two rounds out of an Armalite AR50, and it was a hoot! The owner told me that shooting a .50 is like smoking crack, you just want to do it again and again. I think he's right, I'd LOVE to do it again! That big muzzle brake really does the trick on the recoil.

The picture shows... the humongous muzzle break. That explains the lack of recoil...

AND it appears to be the bolt action single shot model.

the old .50 cal bmg Johnsons boys rifle did not have the fancy engineered muzzelbrake. It used surplus M2 barrels. those things where dangerous to the shooter if ya where not ready. From thew prone position ya HAD to make holes in the dirt for your feet and for your elbows then PUSH against the rifle while it was on the bipod then Squeeze.......BLAMM!!!!! ya end up with trenches rather than holes, ya can plow a field after a while.....
