| Senior Member | malfuntions malfunctions malfunctions! hey guys, man my carbine is acting up bad and im at a loss! when i fire it either it stove pipes the spent case and jams or the bolt will cycle back and slam forward without picking up a fresh round...ive cleaned it till i cant see straight,greased every slide and oiled every moving part,but nothing has worked...ive checked the springs and they seem as stiff as other carbines ive seen...ive cleaned the piston and its orfice but still no luck! i thought it may be my mags so i went and bought a couple differant kinds at the gunshow...no help! im at my wits end here guys,any advice will be welcome!!! thanks!...mark oh! and if it helps to know, its a standard products model

| Sounds like a broken extractor lip to me. Try replacing the extractor. Check the ejector while you have the bolt apart. That could also be the source of the problem.

| Means the empty case is sticking straight up in the action/chamber area. Either open or primer end up... A broken extractor lip or worn ejector might explain the lack of grabbing another/next round, but I don't think it explains the stovepiping. I'd have to agree with mooseman as there's many reason for the cause of both from bad ammo to worn parts and as he stated, it's hard to diagnose on the internet. Take it or ship it to a qualified reputable gun smith. MHO anyhow...

| Actually it does explain some stovepiping. The rim slips out from under the extractor and the ejector flips the case straight up instead of to the side. Stovepiping is common with broken extractor lips and is one of the most common symptoms. And for whatever it is worth, I am a carbine smith........
