Targeting way back when..M1

Gentlemen,
Again a post for the new guys. The title tells us the story.

A Veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount of “up to and including my life.”

Thanks again for taking the time and effort to read this data. I hope you have learned a little of the history of the M1 Garand.

I've seen some of the other post but this is most interesting. What exactly is the Woodworth Cradle?

It looks as if that rifle already sports a "cartouche". Why would it be stamped before it was fired?

jpwilly,
They were rifle cradle setups of 1000 lbs yes half a ton. The rifle would not move much once zeroed. BTW do you deal in WW2 jeeps??
Thanks again
Clancy
ps stamping done before the rifle was set to zero.

No, I don't have any WWII Jeeps but that would be one heck of a screen name for it. It was my nickname in High School (one of them) and I use it for my screen name on these forums. My initials are J.P.W.
