| Senior Member | CETME in the movies So, I just finished watching First Blood on Spike. I noticed that the sheriff (the bad guy in the movie) was carrying a CETME through the woods in the beginning when they're first hunting John Rambo. At first I thought it might be a G3, but then I noticed the paddle-wheel rear sight and he had a 20 round CETME steel magazine, not an allow G3 mag. That's just awesome! I also couldn't tell if it had the wide forearm or regular forearm, which was making me think it might have been a HK-91, but I don't think those have the paddle-wheel sights. Anyone else know of the CETME in other movies? We should keep an eye out for them and list 'em here so we can go admire our Spanish Ladies on film. ![]() ![]() |

They say it's the civilian version of the PSG-1, called a H&K SR-9 TC. Never heard of it before, myself. | |

| Senior Member | Okay, got another one!!! And you won't believe where I saw it: PREDATOR 2 Yeah, the one starring Danny Glover as Mike. In the beginning, Mike and the other cops are battling some spanish-speaking drug lords with full-automatic weapons. Mike then uses his car as a barricade and forces the majority of the druggies back into the building where one noname guy puts down a CETME to pick up a Barrett .50 Model 82A1/M107 "Light Fifty". The other guys start picking up stuff all around a room filled with guns, rockets and "other". One guy even picks up an AR-50 after securing a .50BMG to the bolt. Just before the cops get off of the roof, an African-American guy is next to Mike carrying an HK-91, as evidenced by the forearm with the integrated bipod. Even if you don't watch for the CETME sighting, at least watch that first battle scene for the gun-porn!

| Member | Got one, In the movie Navy Seals with Charlie Sheen. In the begining when the Leuitenant goes to talk to the reporter lady and she's doing her voice on a video for Beruit. It shows a short clip of what looks like a real video clip of a guy hip firing a full auto with the OG wood furniture. I've seen this movie many times and never noticed before, but I'm absolutely positive it's a CETME. |

| Senior Member | Ooo... that's neat Enscribe. It could be an H&K G3, but a quick look at the rear sight will tell the tale. I've been meaning to see that movie, since my friend decided that, after seeing it in the movie, he had to have the Barrett M82A1 "light fifty" and bought one.

| Member | yeah that movie really illustrates the power of a 50 cal. Hide behind buildings, hide behind 8 inch concrete walls, hide behind cars, nah not good cover for a 50 cal. and the best part is the Seal Sniper's codename is "GOD." |

| Senior Member | Yup, I remember my friend mentioning that. If I'm going to buy a .50BMG though, I'm going to go with the AR-15 bolt-action single-shot upper so that I could use it as a modular system to switch out and go from battle-rifle in .308 to .50BMG sniper rifle to assault rifle in .223... Problem there is the logistics of carrying the uppers. I'm thinking backpack style range back.

| Senior Member | saw a cetme in a movie called the last king of scotland. there is a clip of a soldier holding a doctor at gun point while the doctor is trying to convince him that he coul help out the south african president. It was a sportster model with plastic furniture just like mine. |

As for discerning between the two, if they're stock, look at the rear sight; that'll be the big teller. G3's have the H&K 'drum' rear sight while the CETME has a paddle rear sight. That's just about the only major difference between the two that is noticeable with any certainty.

| Senior Member | I've seen Under Seige 2 and don't recall seeing a CETME or G3, but I don't think I was looking for it (i.e. didn't own it yet) the last time I watched it all the way through. Gun and Game Forums - CETME Owners ------------ Okay, so it's not a movie, but I did just see two CETME's being used by Somali militia in the program Sniper: Stalk and Kill on The History Channel. They were talking about Mogadishu and when the Black Hawk went down and two snipers (Sergeant First Class Randy Shughart and Master Sergeant Gary Gordon) bravely repelled down from their helicopter to defend the downed soldiers, ultimately losing their lives in the battle and posthumously being awarded the Medal of Honor by President Clinton. Rest In Peace, gentlemen; your sacrifice is not forgotten. (<--- I wish this was a "solemn salute" smiley and not happy; I searched the internet for one and there isn't one)
