7.62x54R Czech ammo

Is it any good? It was $4.75 for a box of 20, so I decided I should order 5 boxes. Just wondering if you guys had any experiences with it?

i have not tryed any czech however i realy just buy whatever i can i get the best bulk price on, the bulgarian heavy ball in my fav though

dude wideners supply has the bulgarion heavy for 17 cents a round
aka 50ish for 300 rounds.

That stuff looks like what I got but I can't confirm that until after this weekend. Well, thats if this stupid state sends me my stupid firearm card. If it is the same stuff, I've never had any problem with it. Don't ask about accuracy cause I sure don't remember, been over three years.

The Czech ammo is usually pretty good stuff as it's made by Sellier & Beloit. The biggest complaint is that it's "sticky" in some guns.

yeah,I clean my chamber out really good before and after I shoot the czech and its works fine. But I still like the 1950s bulgarian the best.

Bulgarian brass case HB.

J&G has 300 rounds for $50.

AIM has 250 rounds for $40.

Packed in different type tins so I'm not sure of the difference. The 600 rounds I bought from J&G is in real nice condition.

Also have an order from AIM for reloadable Prvi Partizen (similar to Wolf Gold) at $10.95 a box it's about as good as relaodable brass gets.

I bought 900 rnds from J&G and there all ok to shoot all LB

Czech LB is one of the best surplus I've used. Very accurate and consistent. I'd rank it second to Polish LB.

I like the Czech LB. When I run the Bulgarian HB through my 1947 M44 the bolt gets really hard to open. Guess the tolerances are funny.

It should be the other way around as the Czech is steel-case and the Bulgarian is brass-case. I have (and still do) fired both and had problems with the Czech sticking but not the Bulgarian. Once I polished the breech nothing sticks.

So, clean and polish that breech a little and the M44 won't care what type of case you shoot.

Incidentally the Czech and Bulgarian are both very accurate, and consistant.

Thanks, I'll be cleaning my M44 then. I am positive about the bulgarian though. One of my dad in law's M44s has a hard time closing on them.

All I can say is scrub and polish those breeches (and I don't mean pants). Does the rifle have trouble closing on just Bulgarian? What other ammo does he use? Just curiuos, as closing the bolt should not be a problem unless there is a ton of crud in the breech, or there's a clearance issue.

We have used all types of ammo, Czech, Russian, Hungarian, Albanian, and Bulgarian. We have only had problems with the Bulgarian. He keeps his rifle Uber clean so it just might be a clearance issue. But we mostly use Albanian.

I thought the Bulgarian stuff was copper washed steel?

I bought a "stash" of 7.62/54r ammo including two crates of Czech silvertip 147gr a couple years ago - in hindsight I wish I'd bought more Czech silvertip....lots more! It's the best surplus 54r ammo I've shot, consistantly accurate and trouble free. No sticky-bolt syndrome if chambers are clean and bolt camming faces polished up. Shoots equally well in 91/30's and carbines.
