new toy!

I know it's not a big deal to most here, but I finally got an sks- a yugo. Now if only those bastards didn't drench it in cosmoline. Stuff's like tree sap. I got most of it off, though... paying special attention to the bolt.

I'll get a pic tomorrow since I have it off. Hell, I'll just photograph my whole arsenal of guns so far (my swords are a whole different story). So far, in order that I bought them, I have my Taurus 1911, an M39 Mosin Nagant, a WASR 10/63 AK-47, and now my Yugo... and I still smell like cosmoline.

lol... the shop I got it from actually gave me a discount because they didn't feel like cleaning it off themselves. I can see why. One of them suggested I take it to the carwash... which sounds like an okay plan until you realize that other people may misunderstand the situation.

As for my fiance, I still haven't convinced her to try a single one of my rifles. She's scared of them so far, even when I remind her of the fact that "AK's are so easy a child can use it... and they do!"

Anyway, as far as scaring off that guy, I wouldn't want a gun pointed in his face that we wouldn't be willing to use, especially when it's my fiance holding the gun. He's more likely to call her bluff... and all my rifles are likely to overpenetrate (and we're on a third floor apartment). For defense, I got some Glaser "safety slugs" that fragment when they hit something... for those not familiar, copper jacketed with a hard plastic ball in the tip to push down on and spread the load when it hits... the copper jacket is filled with #12 shot. I also have some Speer Gold Dot Hollowpoints.

Oh yeah... also bought a couple paper targets of bin Laden... this'll be fun.

I used to have a girlfriend that was scared of firearms. I took a simple bolt action .22 rifle and let her watch me shoot it a couple of times. I eased her into it and let her move up at her own pace. Once she sees theres no loud report and no major kick, she won't be so scared.

She's handling my 1911 just fine. It's just the rifles she's scared of.

That's what I've been trying to tell her. The first time I took her to the range with the 1911, she was kicking and screaming.

Many of you requested a pic of my new SKS, so here you go. I went ahead and photographed all my guns together... left to right: Mosin Nagant M39, WASR 10/63 AK-47, Taurus 1911, and my Yugo SKS.

Well... I don't have a shotgun... yet.

I'd also like to get either an AR-15 or a FAL, so I have a scary black rifle in my collection. I like the caliber of the FAL better than that of the AR, not to mention reliability... but I like the look and feel of an AR, not to mention that it is the American military rifle.

And... if I can manage to get a PS-90 (yes, I'm a Stargate SG-1 fan), I'll be happy... if only for a moment... lol.

Well... I s'pose I could bubba the AK or SKS into a scary black rifle too, but I just don't have the heart to bubba military classics.

One thing I noticed when I went to the store to get more Hoppe's and cleaning patches. It seems that most Yugo SKS's have a few holes in their grenade launchers... mine doesn't. Does this mean anything?
