Out of curiosity, does anyone make a combination pistol / carbine?

Are there any weapons that have swappable barrels or removable stocks or anything that can be made into either carbines or pistols?

Quite a few I believe, the old "Buntline" is the first one to spring to mind, that and the"Bolo"Mauser. I also had a stock for my Colt govt .45.

Do you have any links?

I got to thinking about it when cleaning my HP 995, noticing how easy it is to remove the stock and how simple it should be to make a removable barrel (threaded, or possibly with separate holding screw like on a shotgun). Figured that would be handy to have around. Carry it as a pistol and when you need to, spend a couple minutes swapping the stock and barrel and now you have a rifle!

*edit*
Oh, thanks for those links!

Somebody offers a complete carbine kit for .45 1911's, but I can't recall the name of it. Basically, you take any stock 1911, remove the slide assembly, and put this kit on the 1911 frame. Not my cup of tea, but I've heard good things about the quality and function of them. No mods necessary to the pistol, and it can be converted back to a pistol in a couple of minutes.

I think this is it....Mech Tech Systems, Inc.

Yea, those are from a company called Mech Tec.

At $300, darn pricey, I think. Better off with a Marlin Camp .45.

Yeah, I'd LOVE to find a .45 Camp Carbine! And have it fitted with the full-length suppressor. It's easier to get the suppressor work done than to find a carbine to have it done to.

Perfect for knocking the cats off your garbage cans, huh? There's something about a suppressed .45 carbine I find oddly attractive.....Don't know why, or what I'd do with it, I just want one.

I think the .45 ACP lends itself well to supression. It's already subsonic and carries a big slug. A carbine barrel would give the same effective range as the old Thompson of about 150 yards. Looks good to me.

Yes, they're great guns, a couple of my friends have the De-lisle carbines and they are silent! (Except for that 45 slug ploughing into something)
