| Senior Member | Yep, m77 is the model number, good gun, I have one in 300win. mag. I have two 30-06's and they just don't do as well with those light bullets. 150,165&180 gr. is what mine shoot best with the 180 being the best of the 3. |

| Mr. Fixit ![]() | No offense to your friend, but YOU'RE going to be shooting whatever you want and, I think you'll find the heavier gr. bullets will shoot better. The Ruger 77 is an excellent piece of machinery and I think you'll be very happy with it. I'd suggest a good recoil pad, then start experimenting to find the load it likes best.

| Senior Member | If you are concerned about the recoil, and that is nothing to be ashamed of, I would suggest you take it to a gunsmith and have him fit it to you and install a Pachmayr Decelerator. I did this for a 30-06 for my daughter. The gun kicked too hard even for me..the gunsmith cut the stock down and installed the pad. End of problem, I am very impressed with this product. I think the charge was $75 and he moved the sling stud and plugged the old hole which was too close to the butt after cutting it off. |
