where to shoot the deer?

where do yall think is the best place to shoot a deer?

Preferably not in town. You might get in a bit of trouble if you do. LOL

Just behind the shoulder mate, that is where i would shoot.

right behind the shoulder that way you will hit the heart and lungs and if its a big buck you wont have any holes for the taxedermy to fill in so it will look better. but if it is just a doe you could just hit 'em in the head.

Right behind the shoulder is where I've always been told.

Some say head shots, but if you miss by inches you have a deer that will starve to death. I hunt for sport, not so much for dropping the deer on the spot. A well placed lung and heart shot will have the deer down in under 50ft with ease.

Yep, right behind the shoulder for the ideal side shot. You want to damage the lungs. If facing you, then right in the chest between the shoulders.

I try to shoot them in the bed of my truck so I don't have to drag 'em.

The heart/lung shot, when done properly is an excellent shot. I would NEVER shoot a deer in the head, and the idea of a slightly offline shot allowing a deer to run off and not be able to feed and subsequently die, makes it a no brainer(pun intended) to me. Remember there are LOTS of twigs and branches which can be totally unseen and move that head shot just a tad. If the shot appears open and fairly close, up to 100yds or so, I prefer a shot to the point of the shoulder or base of the neck. This shot has caused more impressive instantaneous drops/kills than all others added together(for me). There are several deer, looking at me now as I type this, sent to that great food plot in the sky, by that shot.

One hunting season i cracked one just above the shoulder into the neck 6" up, but it was only 95 yards away. He went down fast, kicked one time and that was it. The rack was not important to me the meat was. If it was a trophy buck i might have shot him around the shoulder. Another year i hit one directly in the heart and it took me 2 days to find him. That was with a Remington 30.06 180 grain solid, that shot was 175 yards or so. You certainly will get some different views on this one. But all the above i see nothing wrong,

Just anywhere in the eye. LOL! No, I'll stick with the area directly behind the shoulder. I deer hunt with a .243, but would like to up the caliber to a 6.5 soon.

Funny- I saw this happen! we were deer hunting and a guy was camped about 1/4 mile away. we heard a shot at his camp and thought maybe someone got hurt so we ran over and there was a bear in the back of the PU dead. The guy said he came back to camp and the bear was in his ice chest in the truck bed so he shot it! didn't have to haul it far!

My Dad was very old school and only shot Silvertip bullets in the shoulder. If they can run they aint goin far! Im more of a heart shot guy.

anywhere in the heart lung shoulder area, either way they will have no front wheels or will run out of oil pretty quick.

If youre shooting for meat then a head shot.
