| What boots do you wear hunting? I saw a similar thread on another board, so decided to post it here. What boots do you wear hunting? I wear Rossi Eagle boots. They are brilliant. Made in Australia. Unfortunately Rossi do not make their eagle boot any more. When i hear this a ran out and bought another pair because i knew i would not be able to buy them again. Well the new model for their last year of production is rubbish, it is a good thing they stopped making them because they gave a great boot a bad name. The quality was down the sink and they changed the sole, i wear them to work and save my good pair for hunting/or general use. The good pair in this picture are 4 years old, and they are nowhere near worn out, they still have years left in them. They were a little stiff when i first got them (as you would expect) i just kept (and still do) putting saddle grease on them (Oakwood) which softened them up quickly and also helps to keep the leather in good condition, also it helps to repel water. The boots in this picture have had some very hard use, in some rough and hard country. They are worn all year (exept to work) as we dont have hunting seasons here in Australia, we can hunt all year round. Aswell as hunting i wear them everywhere. When i put my foot down, weather it be on the side of a rock in the pooring rain, to humping up the side of a mountain i know my foot will stay where i put it, with no movement to my ankle at all. I can put them on before the sun comes up, put in a long day in the bush and still have them on long after it goes down. With not a hint of sore feet, and i have a steel rod in my left leg and my right ankle is built from my hip and does not bend left or right, only up and down (and i have a steel spine) So that says something about their quality. ![]() ![]() |

| Could do mate, but Rossi changed to the new sole because Sherpa soles are not made any more. I asked rossi this same question, and they said any boot sent back to them for resoaling will have the new sole put on. They are fine for work but no good for much else. But the whole boot is just poorly made. But my good boots (the ones in the pictures) will last many more years yet. |

| I wear a pair of non insulated Danners during bow season, and insulated Irish Setters during cold weather. Like the Setters, just too heavy if much walking is involved.

| I wear Red Wing Fire Line uninsulated for elk. This boot is made for fire fighters and is pretty heavy. The country I hunt elk in is very steep and slick, it rains a lot here and the elk trails are a mess by November. I would't want a lighter or softer boot. For everything else I use a pair of Wolverenes with the air bob soles. Light canvas type nylon on the sides bordered with leather. Light and good support. |

| I wear these before it gets real cold. All-Leather Mountain HikersŪ Boot ![]() ![]() Then I change over to some crappy Sportsman Guide boots I will not post a picture of. They squeak but they keep my feet warm and dry. If it's really really cold I have some Sorrells Pac Boots that are hard to pull on but there heaven to wear once you get them on. There named Snow Crusher, something like that. |

| I'm very picky when it comes to boots/shoes. I hate foot/feet aches. They make your whole body and mind miserable. Well for me anyhow... lol But when just toying around, or at the range, I like the Oakley SI Assault boots. They can be found for cheaper then listed at Oakley. Just hit the Oakley Outlet Store/s. Discount Hunting Gear, Discount Hunting Boots, Discount Shoes, Discount Ammunition, Discount Ammo, Discount Boots, Military Surplus, Outdoor Gear At the Sportsman's Guide also has them at times. Then for hiking, hunting, I don't currently have a pair yet, haven't replaced them yet, But they have to be at least, 1000 grams insulated, Gortex treated and obviously waterproof. After all, if the feet aint warm and dry, one becomes grumpy and miserable. Again, me anyhow. lol Here's some hunting/hiking exampes >>> Lacrosse 8 Broadside Gore - Tex Hunting Boots, Realtree Hardwoods, Men's Footwear, Lacrosse at Sportsman's Guide These aren't insulated, but for the summer, they don't need to be but when just walking around in nature, something like this works great. Lacrosse Hawk Gore - Tex Boots, Realtree Hardwoods Hd, Men's Footwear, Lacrosse at Sportsman's Guide Wolverine Gore - Tex Canyon Boots, Brown, Men's Footwear, Wolverine at Sportsman's Guide Shoes, shoes, shoes! Zappos.com - Fast FREE Shipping, 365-Day Return Policy, HUGE selection of dress shoes, casual shoes, athletic shoes, online shoe store has a good selection of shoes/boots. And they'll pay for shipping both ways.
