| Hi all, I am new here (as you may have gathered!) I am wondering if anyone can recommend a club or individual person that can help me with a holiday idea? I would like to come to the states for a holiday (4 weeks if poss) and would like some long range training etc... as you know the UK is heavy on gun laws, I am a member of a club but there is no land to try long range shooting at all. If anyone can recommend a club or individual I would be most grateful one on one preferably thanks for listening to a brother from accross the pond ![]() Guy |

| Hi thanks for replying to me, my answer to that would be no, im looking for some people to hopefully make friends, who like me loves guns, but unlike me they are allowed to have decent rifles etc..., my holiday idea is to come see a/some brothers from accross the pond and learn from a long range shooter, maybe even some bushcraft skills if we have spare time. I am not a bad shot but the UK sux when you want to fire anything over .22 I just love precision shooting at range, and know the USA has some of the greatest shots in the world I would stress im not after a technical meltdown lol.... a cool character who is very chilled but godlike when you shoot Guy Location not important, wide open spaces would be good (dont get that in the UK lol) im more looking for great people than a specific location. | Long range would be beyond 800m+ longer the better I would like to perhaps start at 400m and work my way up, but that really is up to the person interested in teaching me? is that what you consider long rage? I used to be a UK soldier and shot our L85A1 out beyond 400m+ although it was a while ago lol... ![]() Guy |

| Hota death. Good idea as long as you don't go official ços the land of the free has some very funny rules now, especially where it concerns citizens of a country which has a history of terrorism like the UK! We are actually blacklisted now. I know, I encountered a lot of this bureaucracy last year in Texas! But I would also plan your trip around a visit to one of their gun shows, for a Brit they are quite an experience. Remember, should you wish to take any shooting accessories/bits & pieces home with you will almost certainly require an American Export licence. It's a freaking joke really but lots of stuff you can buy over the counter at home & in the States requires an export licence to take out of the States! Eg. Rifle-scopes, magazines etc. I wouldn't advocate doing anything illegal (like what I did) and bringing lots of stuff back! You're a bit offputting with your comments about nowhere to do long range shooting. What's wrong with Bisley's Stickledown range, 800-1200 yards, not even an hour away. | Cool so im not totally out of touch then lol, well anyone have any ideas on a possible teacher? any help/suggestions would be appreciated Guy Quote:
As for terrorism, I know there is a bit of it about or so our leaders like us to think, they create fear and then provide a solution..... yes they lok down our rights in our name lol Im an Englishman old fashioned and well brought up, I love guns but am reduced to pop guns, so I had an idea of a holiday where I could meet USA shooters (fun guys who share my love of shootin) and learn from them long range stuff, here things are just so dam boring Guy Last edited by HoTa DeAtH; 04-15-2008 at 11:04 AM. When you say you're reduced to "Pop" guns, is that because of the clubs you're in. My club is a fun club and we make the most out of what we're allowed, with various action shoots with the Long barreled revolvers, pistol calibre carbines & service rifles. Fun is the name of the game; there are only one or two of the traditional very serious target & bench rest guys but everyone to their own. (we even have a load of English exiles as members!) I don't know if you go to Bisley but if you do, have a word with Paul Hunter & his Wife Jenny, I think Paul runs most of the service stuff there and he's a good guy, even if he is RAF. So you are ex-mob, what outfit? You can see from my avatar what I was with. Anyway, good luck................I'm off today for a month in South Africa, taking life easy and only shooting the aminals with my camera! | |

| First off, welcome to the G&G forum. As for your idea, it and they will more than likely be expensive, but it's called Gunsite Training Center and has great ranges and shoot house. There are a few others I believe also. But this is one I'd go to if I could. Anyhow, heres the link. Good luck and enjoy. Maybe they have a group rate/discount??? A very well accredited place this one is though. Gunsite
