AK ammo warning..just read on another forum...

I wonder if this could be true...what do you guys think?

The AK Files Forums - A Friendly Warning

first post in the thread...

A Friendly Warning

People.

If you are planning on doing casual target shooting in your near or distant future you need to listen to me real close.

BUY.

If you reload buy as many components as you can afford. If you cast your own bullets then SCRAMBLE and I mean HUSTLE all the scrap lead you can find. It may already be too late for that.

The current 762x39 ammo and all other inexpensive commie ammo is currently priced at a level that will very soon represent 50 to 95 per cent OFF OF FUTURE PRICES.

As soon as current inventories are depleted, and even much sooner than that, prices are going to freaking skyrocket like you have never seen before.

Soon, and I mean very soon, shooting as a recreational activity will be for the RICH MAN.

Not You, not me.

I'm talking weeks. 3 months max. Then the sky is the new limit for ammo.

Buyers will drop out. Distributors will stop stocking and prices will get even higher and supply will be greatly reduced.

Mark my words....or....do not doubt me.

Well, ammo prices have certainly gone up, for a multitude of reasons. That's nothing new. But that post seems a little melodramatic. Or it could be spot on and I'm just in denial.

After reading the posted URL it seems a little fishy. No source is listed. No reason is given. To me it looks like you should send this post to 10 people within the next 5 minutes or you will have bad luck for the rest of your life.

Regardless of what the letter found on AK files says... ammo prices continue to go up, up, up.

If you want to shoot often - buy it cheap, stack it deep and re-load.

$00.17 per round is the lowest price I can find on 7.62 x 39

I still have ammo stacked up from during the Clinton Administration. I have about 1,500 +/- rounds in 7.62x39 South African in vinyl battle packs left from ten years ago. Since I rarely shoot my AK or SKS, that may be a lifetime supply. I figure my kids and grands will be able to use ammo packed like that.

.308s, only 1,000 or so
.30-30 about 400
.223 about 400
.22lr - 1,000 or so.
.30-06 - about 500

Everything else has at least 200 rounds sitting here per rifle, shotgun, or pistol, plus reloading gear for .308, 7.62x39, .45 ACP, .38/.357, 9mm, 12 g, 20 g, .30-30, and .30-06.

I could never have afforded my ammo inventory were it not for reloading.

I suppose the best way to find out is to ask the distributors and see what they say? Ask places like Ammunition to go, or the ammo man etc. and see what they have to say? They might say yes, just to get you to buy, but again, ya' just never know.

I do believe, if the anti-gunners can't get it one way, they WILL try another. Ammo and ammo prices is yet just another way. All it will do, is make a much bigger black market or create one? All MHO
FWIW...
I'd also have to add this tidbit. A lot of the 7.62 ammo is imported along with most if not all of the 7.62X54R and others. Importing isn't cheap and if they tax it even more, obviously it will go up. Again, another back door possibility to make it rough/er on gun owners..

i think one reason ammo prices are going up so fast now is because of things like this scaring people into stocking up ammo by the cases. of course prices will keep going up but just like everything elce in the world

I do know for a fact after this last ammo jump , couple dollars per box that it is expected to take a 30% jump in the near future, as for it being gone......it will still be here and like gas we will still buy it.

I'm thinking that two factors are driving up prices. The fuel cost of shipping lead and increase demand due to various countries of the world stockpiling materials and components.

Well if the food shortage hits youll need the ammo to fend off your neighbors who are trying to eat your last potato.

Shipping costs that are tied to fuel costs that are tied to shortages of ammo in addition to the Chinese sucking up all the Scrap metal like Steel ,Brass, Aluminum, lead, and copper and you will have an increase in Price...
A gun without ammo is a CLUB....

I don't know where this keeps coming from...there is no food shortage. It is getting more expensive to ship food, and the governments of the countries that have hungry people are too greedy and ignorant to get the food to those who need it. Besides, should we not worry about the hungry folks in this country before we go out trying to save the rest of this screwed up planet? There are so many issues that need fixin here in the USA, but yet the government seems more worried about the rest of the world. Republicans seem all against putting money into social programs, instead they want it all for forign aid. How about beefing up the deplorable education system in this country...make sure the next generation is nice and smart so that they can keep things going once we get too old to take care of things. Ok, sorry, I got a little off topic....rising ammo prices stink!

Land that once grew food items is now growing grain for Ethanol.
Less food items are being produced ...
