| Registered User | 20" barrell on a 7mm-08 I'm looking at a Remington Model Seven XCR in 7mm-08. I also have my eye on the new Sako A7. How much accuracy will I lose with the (model Seven) 20" barrell? if any? Thanks in advance, sideshot |

| Banned | accuracy is not judged by barrel length accuracy is judged by how precise the rifling in the barrel is, the crown on the barrel, and the bedding of the action, length has nothing to do with accuracy but everything to do with velocity. |

| Banned | 338RemUltraMag is exactly correct, you'd not lose a bit of accuracy, theoretically, but would most certainly lose some velocity; likely around 50 or so FPS over the 22 1/2" barrel of the Sako. That Sako looks like a great rifle! I'd grab that Sako in a heartbeat, especially at lower MSRP! |

| Banned | no bravo the bullet is "stabilized" as soon as it hits the rifling what makes heavy bullets fly true is the rifle twist the heavier the bullet the faster the twist has to be for the bullet to fly true but the extra 6'' would help velocity by about 200-250 fps... |
