Question Armalite AR-10 build

Okay guys ... I just purchased an Armalite AR-10 stripped lower receiver and have never built one from scratch before. To everyone that has experience building an AR-15 and/or AR-10 (they've gotta be close) please lend insight.

I should have the stripped lower receiver any day now... once I have that, where do I start?

I know enough to build the lower separate from the upper... one at a time.

Let's start with trigger (innards) and stock recommendations.

Thanks in advance guys... this will take a while as funds become available... so please be patient with me...

I'd start by building up the lower, and then it a breeze.

... that's the idea, one major component at a time. Any suggestions for an AR-10 trigger? I am looking for either a Chip McCormick, Jard or another AR-10 suggestion from other shooters, armorers or builders.

Good luck with your build LarryO. Oh and Timney triggers are great also.

They do not make a trigger for the AR-10.

Anyone have any experience with Geissele Triggers? My idea... is to replicate (as best I can) the
M110 Semi-Auto Sniper System...

I would get a good two stage, make it feel like your M1A. All my MBR's are two stage at 4.5 lbs.

+1

I had a nice 2-stage in my SPR - it was no were near as nice as my
SEI M14 2-stage, but it was better than the standard ArmaLite trigger.

Larry, go to the Panther Arms(DPMS) candy store, and do a little browsing. Those folks have everything, and then some, for building AR's.

I called Compass lake and unfortunately they do not make a trigger for the AR10. They did however recomend white oak. I called them and they have a RRA trigger ( two stage ) for I think 120.00

The utmost goal is to create something as close to possible as the new M110 Sniper system... may even go so far as getting the silencer via Form 4.

I have used the RRA 2 stage in my ar15 builds before. I love them. I've never used the others, but haven't ever heard anything bad about them.

Hey Larry
I can't say I have any experience with silencers and the such and what I do know is that I got a new catalog from surefire talking about how great there silencers are. Ehh it was a catalog/commercial but they do have some pretty picts of metal things that you can attatch to your weapon LOL. Wish I could help ya more on this subject but this is out of my league and like I said....all I got was a catalog with lots of neat pictures.

Silencers are nice (I've used them) and having a gas system that you can turn off is even more applicable with a silencer. I'll probably look into those ...

I may do the ATF Form 4 ... might as well do it right.

As for sound suppressors, I personally like the look of both the Gemtech and the Reflex models.

You can find all kinds of models here: MACHINE GUNS FOR SALE - AUTOWEAPONS.COM

I have a Timney AR-10 drop in trigger in my DPMS and it's SWEET! It has a stronger hammer spring that will punch through the hardest of your surplus ammo primers.

They do, I own one! And it's well worth the money.
