| Member | Old Winchester values??? I'm cleaning/serviceing/making minor repairs on two old Winchester Model 1894's in 30WCF for a friend - he's asking what is approximate value of his two rifles? Can any readers of this forum give me any approximations as to possible worth? 1896 "Model 1894" rifle, 5 digit serial number, w/26" octogon barrel and full length magazine - believe it has all original parts. Very good+ bore, excellent condition original stock wood, very good+ condition metal surfaces w/worn blued metal finish [maybe not original?] and very smooth action. Has deep "c" shaped wrap over metal butt plate, and a "period" adjust. fold down rear peep sight. 1898 "Model 1894" carbine, 6 digit serial number, w/24" round barrel and full length magazine - believe it has all original parts. Very good+ bore, good+ condition original stock wood, very good condition metal surfaces w/only traces of original finish, and very smooth action. It has saddle ring stud on receiver. A typical "ranch" gun as remembered from my mis-spent youth!! I've done a very carefull complete strip down and detail cleaning of both firearms: Hoppes and CLP products for metal parts - denatured alcohol scrub and Linseed Oil soaks for the wood. I plan to return the rifles with lightly oiled metal surfaces, in treated "gun-socks". Is there anything else I should be doing for long term preservation - these are "keepsakes" that will be fired very little if any in the future???

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | Sorry...my Win Model 94 was made in 1974 and is valued in the neighborhood of $350+/-. I wouldn't sell it for that, though. As for older collector Model 94's...I think their values rise far higher than mine...even though they may be "wall hangers."

| Senior Member | They're worth a LOT, and climbing higher everyday. I'm sure there's a Winchester collectors forum out there somewhere that can tell you more. Bring photos.
