| Member | Ruger SR9 Or P95? Well I've been leaning towards the P95 9mm., but today got to handle the SR9 and wow that feels nice in the hands. Anyone have an opinion on which they would get over the other? Cheapest I've found was P95 9MM. Blue $299. SR9 $419 So $120 difference in cost. There is also a gun show this weekend in my area. Appreciate the help and opinions. Thanks, Marc <>< |

| Member | Might want to wait on purchasing an SR9 for a bit. They have been recalled because they fire when dropped and are requesting their customers not shoot them until they're fixed. They are starting in Mid-May to have customers send them back to be fixed. Ruger - SR9™ Product Safety Warning and Recall Notice |

| Member | Thanks sell33 that's where I'm leaning, that guy shouldn't have broke one out for me to hold. lol ShotInTheDark Weren't the SR9's that had the problems the batch starting with 300? If so did they stop production or already producing more with the problem fixed? Thanks, Marc <>< |

| Senior Member ![]() | I am sold on Ruger products and either one will give you great service. BUT if I was buying I personaly would buy the new SR9 because of the design. The sides of the SR9 don't have the big, what I'll call "levers" as the P95 does. |

| Member | I believe starting with 330... That link up there has all their details. I imagine they started producing new ones without the defect. I was actually thinking about purchasing the SR9 myself, but just thought I'd mention it in case he didn't know about it and wanted to take a look at it. |

| Member | Thanks guys , I will be ordering a SR9 hopefully soon. Found a company that can get them for $389. That's with 6.5lbs trigger pull, 2 Mags, and case. I think that's a good price from all the other prices i've seen around. If I get it my understanding, I still may have to send it back for the recall. A.H. I know what you're saying about the "levers". I went up to Academy as I have been for the last month or so feeling out guns, and the guy opened the safe and pulled out a SR9. Needless to say I really liked the feel over the P95. Why did he do that? lol The gun felt solid and well made. ShotInTheDark I checked the link, although one gun shop said they were ALL recalled. Maybe all that were out are the ones that started with 330, I dunno, he also said I was looking at 2 months. Then I called another place and their computer says their distributer has them. So we'll see. I hope they started producing new ones without defects, Mon. I think I'll call Ruger direct to get the info. on this. Thanks, Marc <>< |

| Senior Member | a good friend of mine has a p95, its a very reliable gun, only time its jammed is when his little brother was limp wristing it. we have put lots of rounds through it. however i will say that its a little bulky oin my hand and that it also feels kinda cheapy to me. but im not a fan of plastic guns at all. give me a hunk of steel thanks. but ifit feels good in your hand and you like the way it points then go with it. i have no experience with the other one.

| Senior Member ![]() | O.K. I've got to ask what in the world is Limp Wristing ? I've never heard that term until some time after I joined Gun and Game. I grew up around long guns and have owned more long guns than I do now. But handguns. I'm just now comeing in to my own...what ever that means and I thank the members of G&G for what I have learned. LOL But what in the Heck does Limp wristing mean ? LMAO ! |

| Registered User | I was going to get an SR9, but after hearing about the recall, then hearing about peening, magazine issues in early models, etc, I will instead buy a second P95 and save a bundle of money. I can conceal the P95, so there's really no reason for me to have an SR9 until the next generation comes out. |

As far as the SR9, I was going to get one until I heard about peening, magazine issues, then finally the recall. I think I'll instead get a second P95 and save the extra money. I'll consider an SR9 when the next generation comes out with the bugs worked on. Last edited by Slow Strider; 04-20-2008 at 01:36 AM. | |
