I could provide some entertainment IF they didn't have the firepower, and it just might be fun. Problem lies when you are standing in front of the potential firing squad. Would American Solders shoot American Citizens? I pray not.

| Member | What do you think would happen if the government did band guns? I think the whole country would turn up side down. Everyone I know would never give up there guns without a fight. Now I'm not say it would have to end in blood shed but if someone was at my door trying to take my guns I would do what I had to to keep them. I think the rest of gun owning America would do the same. Thats why I really don't believe they would try. Do you really want to piss off a ton of people with guns? I hope they think about it a lot before they try. It would end in a civil war. But I don't know where they would get the army to fight because most of people in the army are gun owners and just as passionate about guns as everyone else. I'm not saying this will happen I just believe it will happen before another country tries to invade us. |

| Senior Member | I don't want to shoot at anyone but I value my gun and don't want to give it up.It would probably be Canadian Soldiers who are just following orders. The people who caused the order to be issued will not be around. Having to shoot a soldier be he a Canadian or American would be hard to justify and live with in my mind. However, this would be a short lived worry as you probably wouldn't get off over 2 or 3 shots before the rest of the squad shot you to pieces.

Having said that, I have to say that after being fired on, firing back at an American policeman or service man would brake my heart, since they are the two most cherished and loved group of people in my mind anyway. But like the colonists of old, there comes a time when you have to say "enough is enough". I guess each man has to judge in his own heart when that time has come. The people who fought the War between the states knew that feeling. Though they technically knew they were enemies, they also knew that the man they just killed every time they squeezed the trigger, was a fellow American. What a horrible thing to have to do. | |

| Member | I didn't post this to upset people or to make them go against the gov. I posted it to make you think what would happen if it did. It was was more so everyone would do everything you can to protect the 2nd amendment. The way the elections are going I'm afraid to see what will end up happening to our guns. Will this be the next country with now guns? I hope not. This may not be a thread on life survival but on the survival of the 2nd amendment. Maybe I should have posted this some other place, but I know that the people that read this section will do what they have to to protect their families and there rights. Thank you for listening. |

7mmremmag1995, it would prolly end a lot like windwalker says.... you probably wouldn't get off over 2 or 3 shots before the rest of the squad shot you to pieces. myself i would rather be alive and gunless. then i would move out of the country.

| Senior Member | I honestly wouldnt be suprised if the political leaders were assasinated at that point. Though, that would make martyrs out of them and the general public - those who have been brainwashed by all the "feelgood" anti-gun lies, will just vote to crack down even further on the gun-control laws - further spiraling them into chaos. I am seriously considering finding another (better? I hope we don't ever get to the point where Id honestly call another country "better") country after I finish my medical degree and probably residency. *edit* Oh, and what would I do? Id probably give them the guns they asked for and leave within the week. Maybe go chill in Switzerland and watch the news as the Burglary and Rape rate spikes in the U.S. Last edited by JMcDonald; 04-20-2008 at 03:35 PM. |

| Member | Think about this; only the good honest people would end up giving up there guns so then the only people that would still have guns would be the ones the gov. was originally trying to get the guns away from, the criminals. |

| Registered User | I used to think that Americans would never give up their guns -- but over the last 40 years, our educational system -- hijacked by leftists -- has churned out millions of indoctrinated little pacifists who seem ready to accept anything the government does to our freedom. For instance, Congress recently passed a bill, signed into law by the President, that outlaws the incandescent light bulb -- and Americans are, by and large, content to let the government dictate to them the type of light bulb they can use in their own damn home. And of course, a few years ago, Congress passed a law making it illegal for us to run advertisements critical of politicians in the 60 days preceeding an election -- which is as blatant an attack on the first amendment as one can imagine -- and, again, by and large, Americans just accepted this. Hell, the guy who sponsored that law is now running for president and might well get elected. So while some of us would hold out, I've lost all confidence that very many Americans care to fight for their rights. And I wouldn't put it past them to inform on gun-owning neighbors that refused to turn in their weapons. |
