Rossi Youth Shotguns...?

Was looking at the Rossi Youth Shotguns, both .410 and 20 gauge. Anyone have any experiance with these guns? My daughter's wanting a shotgun to compliment her .22, and the price is certainly attractive on the Rossi's. They list at $117, and I'm sure I can get them cheaper if I look around. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I do not have any experience with the Rossi. But I have had several H&R shotguns over the years and I find them to be a durable and proven work horse and a good looking gun. My son's first gun was a H&R 20 Ga.youth, and he still has it 15 years later. It is a little short for him now, but he said he will never get rid of it. I think they list for around $130.00. But quality is worth the extra couple dollars.

I like my Rossi so well I intend to buy the .243 heavy
barrel later this spring. I would recommend Rossi to
anyone.

I bought the Rossi combo with the 22,243 and 20 gauge barrel.The 22 shoots good,The 243 is back at Rossi right now for accuracy issues 10 inch groups just dont cut it-and yes I tried everything anyone one would reccomend to eleviate it,Hadnt tried the shotgun yet,I should be able to post about their customer service in about a week,And will try the shotgun barrel out and let you know how it patterns.

I just got rid of a rossi 20 gauge slug gun, not a problem with it ever. with the time i have to hunt im just not in a stand enough, so i opted for a pump gun. Anyway, great gun very accurate slug gun and they dont come much cheaper

I have one of those Rossi youth combination paks - a .17 rifle and a .410 shotgun. The stock is short enough for a 9 yr old. A nice little package. Works OK for us.

Not that you don't already know, but, no matter what brand you decide on, make sure the length of pull on the firearm is right for your daughter. Just because it is a youth firearm doesn't mean it will fit her properly. You might have to add to the end of the butt stock to make it a better fit for her.
If it is too long, depending on how much, I don't think I'd remove any from the end of it. She'll grow into it soon enough. Check the one she has, then if it is a good fit, when you check the specs. on a potential shotgun, see what the length of pull is.

As for Rossi, I've heard nothing good or bad about them. Good luck.

Well, after looking at a Matched Pair at a local store, we decided it was too small for my daughter, so we ended up getting her a Charles Daly 20 gauge Youth model, and she loves it.

But...

We did get the Rossy Combo for my 9-year-old son. At $130 it seemed like a screaming deal. We figured he could shoot with the 22 barrel until he got a bit bigger to handle the .410 barrel. So we went to the local range last night and he plinked at the 25 yard targets (got a few hits on target!), but then started asking to fire the .410. The wife and I debated, but we decided to let him fire one off. The kick surprised him (a lot), but he immediatly asked for another shell. He pumped off about 10 rounds of .410 before we had to leave (range closes at 6pm). That's two kids hooked. I'm doomed...

The batteries in my camera died before I could snap too many pictures, but here's one of my son with the Rossi. He was shooting 22LR at this time.

Dicks Sporting Goods over in Melbourne,Got mine on sale for $199.00,I think Gander Mountain has the combo with the .410 for $249.00.I still hadnt heard from Rossi on the accuracy problem with my .243 barrel-As soon as I do I will post.

I just bought a H&R -NEF Parner pump 20ga. shotgun that also comes in youth size.
I didn't get a great deal on it, I paid $189.00 for it.
It Is Imported and is the same shotgun as the Remington 870 pump. The machineing, fit and finish is PERFECT on mine.
You'll Love this shotgun if you buy one, so check it out .
The 20ga. is proporsioned to the 20ga ammo meaning it's not a 12ga. with a 20ga. barrel.
I wouldn't mislead anyone but this has got to be the cutest Lil shotgun your ever see.
The reveiws are phenominal about the 12ga.'s I'm hopeing the new 20ga's will be too...A.H

i just purchased a youth model with 3 barrels
22lr,243,20ga for my grandson
will it last until he is ready for the 243?
he is 9 now and has wore out a sheridan pellet gun in
2 years.
i figure to give him for his birthday the 22 with cb longs
as he gets older the 20ga will come into play
but it will be awhile before he gets the 243
i just hope he don't find my stash place.

anyone got any info on this combo deal?
did i screw up?

i guess time will tell!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sell more of those guns for a kids first then anything else out there for the money, not bad guns at all for the money.
TomAnsley: if your gun was one of the scoped combos rossie had issues with them and I sent alot of the ones we had back to them to swap the mounts out, after that no other problems.not sure they ever made a full recall of them.

My oldest brother bought a .22/.410(I think) for his oldest daughter(she's 5) and I've shot it once(had to share with the neice and little sister) and I put say, I LOVE it. Shots well, isn't that heavy, it's sturdy, and it doesn't kick in the least. I was surprised. I pulled the trigger, heard it shoot, but didn't feel anything. I haven't tried the shotgun part, but my brother loves it. I want one myself, but that's sitting on the back burner for now.

the combo i purchased has both rifle barrels drilled and tapped for scope mounts.
is this the problem child??????????????

I bought a Rossi 22-250 and boy ,what p.o.c. hits all over the paper at 50 yds. off sand bags. Sent it back to rossi they replaced the barrel and said my barrel needed cleaning ,,,B. S. ,,,the replacement barrel shoots no better. Tried diff. handloads and ww factory loads you would be lucky to hit a chuck at 50 yds.
Bought a Savage and have no problems at all ,5 shot groups under 1 inch at 200 yds.off sandbags..

The package I got was not the scoped combo but did have a scope rail on the questionable .243 barell.That thing was sent back to Rossi 3 months ago.When I call them they say they are working on it-It must have been in pretty bad shape!!!!
