SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, not too loud, CGO will hear! Actually, it was a bit dusty, I'd done some sanding, and was trying to get it swept up. Then the camera appeared in the shop, and the rest is history.

A shop like that has to have a hound dog laying down next to the door!

S-O-M, I lost my healer to Parvo, during the ice storm, last year, and haven't been able bring myself to get another one. It just tears my heart out, when I lose a dog! Or a horse, or family, or.... I guess everything. Just haven't done it, yet. Got a little terrier, but he won't stay put for a minute!

I like playing with guns, too!! And I get to shoot the ones I work on!! And I can work on machineguns!! Gotta test 'em after the repair! Gotta call the Sheriff before I test 'em or I get a visit! I found the prints that Mr. Easter sent with the thermometer, and here they are! CGO did that fung-chewy on 'em, so they'd be in the perfect place. How do women do that? She can't even speak Chinese!! How about them grouse? Won't be able to eat another, after seeing those pretty pictures. Earl's got talent doing pictures like that!!! And I finally picked the first firearm out of the rest, to finish, and put up for sale. It's an old Marlin 336, that was pretty much a basket case when I got it. It's mechanics are like new, but it had been tossed around for years, and the buttstock was broke off and irrepairable. Got a new one on the way, and it's startin' to look good!

Scotty; I'm wondering if the flight suit still fits? In my case, all my Air Force stuff has shrank while hanging in the closet. It's been 36 years since I retired, so I guess the wool, cotton, nylon or whatever they made that stuff out of, must have lost the properties to stay as they were made, that's the only thing I can think of. They are now several sizes too small, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. Do you have any ideas on this? Maybe the Seabees had a better uniform, maybe?

Old Timer, that uniform still fits! And I wasn't a Seabee at the time, they saw fit to change my status, and make me a spook. Had to go to DLIWC, and learn to speak North Vietnamese. Then on to other schools, to learn how to do the other stuff, including dying with honor. Those tropical flight suits don't seem to decay, or rot, or anything! and they're flame retardant, so you can get out of a fireball without getting roasted, or so I was told. It's been 36 years since I wore that suit, and it still looks the same, but smells better since CGO gave it a bath, and got the flightdeck smell out of it! Any one who ever stood on a flight deck, or flight line, knows exactly what I'm talking about!

Scotty, weather is warming up, time for me to look for my old military police gear and send it off to you for the shop. I think it's in with all my WW-11 collectibles? Hope I don't run across any Japanese soldiers while digging through the stash? Its been..... awhile!

Well, if you do find any, they prob'ly got the surrender papers by now. I've been thinking about an easy to construct display rack for the firearms I'm putting out for sale, and think I came up with a solution. Two 2X2's, with slanted pegs mounted about seven inches apart, should do it. Then mount 'em to the wall, and run a nylon coated stainless cable through the trigger guards, and bingo! I'm gonna build a display shelf, and mount it high on the wall for headgear. And on, and on, it's starting to seem like a drawn out affair, but I'm lovin' it! When I get some more to share, I'll post pics!

They tried to make me some kind of Navy intelligence analyst, by the way; it's been so long I forget the exact title. They damn near threw me back out the door... ![]() I was seriously surprised when I didn't lose my Crypto clearance over that little bit of smart-aleckery; I guess they were actually telling the truth when they said my answers would be kept strictly confidential

Well, I hadn't had much chance for experimenting with that stuff, as I had just turned seventeen. They promised me a construction rating, and then threw the ringer, about halfway thru bootcamp. I mentioned a contract, and they mentioned that tincans weren't much fun. I let it go, and did my duty, and it only took three and a half years to get to the Seabees. I was glad I stuck around, and got to where I wanted to be. It was well worth the wait, and I got to serve with one of the best units in the military. We took the "E", best of type, Pacific, and the "Peltier" award, best battalion in the 'Bees, in '75. It's really something to be in a unit that has that much "Can Do" in it's ranks. The secret stuff was interesting, but was just a prelude to what I really wanted to do with my life. And I ended up in construction, as a civilian.
