New pistol

My wife surprised me today with "Let's go get me a pistol"! We, or I should say she, ended up buying a new in the box Bersa Thunder .380. Very nice wieght and feel for her, adjustable sights, with locking system, in a brushed satin and blue. Has anyone done any shooting with one of these, or could offer any advice as to reliability, function, accuracy, etc?? This was a very nice fit for her as she's only 5 foot, small frame, but has done a bit of hunting and knows something about firearms. She is really excited about her "first gun", and can't wait to shoot it. Any comments or advice is truly appreciated....

I looked at them for my wife but felt that she would have issues racking the slide. A gun is only good if you can load it.

i have one, its fun to shoot, very acurrate and reliable (does not like hollowpoints) but has eaten all ammo gave it exept that. the only complaint i have is the price of 380 ammo... just paid $34 for 100 rounds but the gun is great!

I have one too, and have had no problems with it. Don't shoot it very often, there's five 1911's in line ahead of it usually. It's a little light, but it shoots great. Only thing I don't like is extra mags are too expensive. It's the one on the bottom here....

Target from the last time out with it, 7 yards, 32 rounds. My arm was tired after shooting all five .45's for a few hundred rounds, and that light little gun waved around a lot. At least they're all within the rings, and that's a what, 1/2 scale target? I'm a lousy shooter anyway. If one were to practice a lot with the Bersa, I'm sure it would do well. There's a whole forum dedicated to them too. :: Bersa Talk :: - Forums

They can be accurate pistols. The first gun my wife shot was a CZ-83 which looks like the one in the top of Rondogs pictures. Here's her target first time ever shooting a pistol at 7yrds. Its a full size B-27 target, but I don't want to make her mad.

Thank you all for the advice..I don't have any pix as yet because she has to go through the process of getting her CCW, which here in NY, and in our county, takes about 2-3 weeks. She'll be starting her 12 hour shift rotation today so we won't be able to get to the sheriffs sub-station until Monday..We saw a wonderful PPK in a brushed satin, but the cost was not in the budget. She paid $279.99 for the Bersa. And for chuckles we checked out the cost of rounds for it,(.380), and they were $18.95 for 50 at the gunsmiths.I'm sure we could do better but I like to keep the little guy eating and paying his bills. Once again, thanks to everyone...

The wife's Bersa looks very similiar to the pistol on the top of the pix, satin and black??

I didn't realize jut how small the Bersas were until I saw that pic of it next to your PA-63 rondog. Neat looking little pistol. Congrats on the new purchase hustler! And congrats on your wife being so excited to go shooting! Mine will come with me occasionally and shoot my .22 rifle, but isn't really a fan of anything bigger.... YET!

It's because you're not a chick!

Actually..I kind of like the look of that gun...but I'm not a chick. Now I'm just a hypocrite, or just someone that loves all guns equally. I'll go with the latter

I had one and it never gave me a problem, extra mags are expensive. Only reason I got rid of it is I went to the 40 S&W for all my centerfire pistols.
