It was apparently Re-arsenaled with a Remington Barrel at some point...Is the stock stamped ???

Guys,

Thanks for the feed back. Sorry Capt'n but I don't have a digitial camera yet. Just got my first desk top. As far as the stock being stamped Mooseman it does show a circled p. Does anyone know if this makes the rifle more rare or less rare in this configuration?

Thanks,

Edwardo

I am not aware of SC using RA parts. As such, I am going with less rare.

Are there any stamps on the stock indicating rebuild?

Not shure what a rebuild stamp looks like. The only stamp is the circle P stamp by the trigger guard housing area. Is this a rebuild stamp? Dookiebutt you said you have a SC w/ a RA barrel is that correct?

My SC has an SC barrel. Is there anything on the wood near the magazine cut off? There could be one of many rebuild stamps on the wood. AA, RIA, etc. in other places.

The only marking on the wood is just below the trigger guard screw which is a circle w/ a P in the circle. Is that the rebuild stamp? That is the only marking that I can see on the wood.

The circled P is a Proof stamp..The left side of the stock right behind the receiver is where they are usually stamped Like AA Or FJA or some thing similar...Look close as somebody may have sanded them off and refinished it!

I do not believe FJA was a rebuild stamp. I'd have to check a book though.

Mine has an "OG" on left side of buttstock about 1/2 way down.
Believe it stands for Ogden Utah. That's a rebuild mark.
Still need a SC cut-off to make 100%.
My stock is warped a little to the left, I assume that's way it's not a real good shooter.

Edwardo, Good shooting sir. How bout a range report some day.

That's right, Frank was the General in charge of rebuilds, yes?

Um, I still think Frank J. Atwood was the district supervisor over SC and Remington. FJA and the ord. wheel would be an original stamp.

I'll pull a book to confirm.

So all those 03A4's were rebuilds? Sorry FJA was on newly build rifles and not a rebuild stamp only. My understanding was FJA in a Box is new and out was a rebuild. Rick B

You said FJA and the same argument would come if you said GAW or any others. The FJA was a newly build stamp but also during there rebuilds used as allot of others were.
The way you and others were answering Dookie was FJA was rebuild and only rebuild or at least it sure read that way. Now to say you didnt say boxed is a bit silly dont you think . Rick B

IF you look Back , I was giving EXAMPLES of what to look for on the Stock...
Sometimes you don't have to be "Technical" since he claims no Cartouches are visible...Or may be faint from Sanding...
Jeez...

I do this becasue someone just reading will say FJA is only a rebuild like the person who emailed me to find out if this was true. I only came over to the thread since it had someone else messed up and me also.
Dont get upset, besides you threw the first stone. Kidding about your little smiley. Rick B
