| 40 round mag jam
Has anyone else had this problem...... Im in a competition on Sunday, 28 round stage, I figure...easy, 40 round mag'll keep me goin' good. Guess what......halfway thru the stage the gun jams, the mag tried to feed 2 rounds into the chamber at once. Then my dad shot the stage same happened to him. Used different ammo in each stage(i use S&B, he used Federal), we both used different guns, i used a full length AR, he used a shorty. But we both used the same mag, like the title says, anyone else have this happen?

What kind of follower does it have? I'd recommend trying a new magpul follower if it has an old one, and you might even replace the spring depending on the age of it.

I have yet to see a 100% reliable 40 round mag.

I would suggest replacing the follower and the spring. If you do not have a reliable mag at that point throw it away. How can you trust it if it only works every now and then ?? Jeffrey |

I agree with Beer Forever, I have not seen/used a 40rd that feed well, not that I have used that many, just a pair of them a friend has.

Go down to 30 rd. 20 rds will give the best performance, when we started using 30 rd, we started having jams. Have stayed with 20 rd and very rarely have a jam. Do you slap the bottom of the mag when you insert it? This may cause the curls on top to fold down flatter. Always place the mag in and seat it, don't slap it. Problem with Mag jams, is they don't earn a Alibi in most types of matches, the problem belongs to the shooter. Good Luck. |

| Same. Stick with 20's and 30's.
