New Enfield Pics, Maybe a fake?

So this is she...... Judging from the poor stampings I have a feeling that she is either a counterfeit from afghanistan or a hastily made wartime production or made at the POF, either way I shot her last night and it was wonderful. Tight groups real light recoil, still a loud bang. Real soft and light wood though. Maybe a little polyurethane will strengthen it up?

i would imagine it would help but i would redo the whole stock if your going to do that, i don't know how the polyurathane would hold on that old finish? maybe it would i don't know

It was my intention to refinish the stock. Hopefully in the same color. I was wondering if the polyurethane finish would help create some sort of "shell" around the soft wood. Any thoughts?

that is called a stacking rod.
it is for leaning rifles against each other (like in the movies) cool huh?

It's Been "Turked"
Turkey used a good number of No4's from any manufacture , many with the original stamps scrubbed off and re-stamped and the stacking rod attached , which looks like this case.
A shipment of Turk No4's came to USA , maybe a couple years ago.
Noting the BSA "B" on the safety and VNS ( Viners Co. -UK ) a subcontractor for LeeEnfield parts and spike bayos.
Look for small stamps that may have been overlooked by the scrubber. ( under the handguards? )
I'll take the guess and says It's a Turked BSA
I'll see if I can dig up better info...

Scrubbed off huh? Is there any way that I can scrub off that ugly No4 Mk1 that has been crudely butchered into the receiver? Maybe with a dremel? Sand Paper? It is about a milimiter deep. How do I make the metal look uniform?
