Which ammo is better?

Is there any difference in ammo quality between

5.56 / 223 Federal Lake City XM193
55 GRAIN FMJ - XM193C ammo at $250 for 500 rounds.

vs

Prvi Partizan .223/5.56x45 62grn FMJ at $67 for 200 rounds

Im trying to stockpile ammo for the RRA A4 I have coming in as ammo prices keep going up as bad as the gasoline where I live, and for when (not "if" when ) the zombie apocalypse begins.

anyhoo I refuse to use wolf brand ammo as Ive only had bad experiences with it before all the other times ive used it, so ive been on the hunt for other brands of decently priced 5.56 or .223 ammo that is of fairly good quality as well.

Buy the Wolf military stuff. Not the same stuff as before.

My experience with Wolf ammo is not bad, you have to clean your ar more often...no big deal. It shoots accurate. Shoot the cheap stuff until the SHTF.

I found some .223 ammo and I'd asked for opinion/s as to whether or not it was any good or not? Didn't/haven't gotten many replies. Now I can only say, I hope it's good because I went ahead and bought some. Only 200 rounds. I guess I'll be letting you all know if it was or not now. lol

And I don't think ammo prices will even drop after the war. I mean, once they see you'll pay it, they aren't going to drop it. Then there's the fact that China still has bought up most if not all of the raw materials, aluminum,brass,lead, etc.etc.etc. I mean come one, do gas prices ever go back down to what they once were after they've gone up and things have changed? NO! I highly doubt ammo will go back down either then.. Trust me, no one hopes I could be more wrong then myself on this...

I think the best quality stuff is what you load yourself on a press. prices are better too !!!

as before what out of curiosity,

I had shot a wide variety of wolf brand ammo in .40SW, 9mm, and .45ACP. its always seemed fair at best.

I did shoot a couple boxes though a perfectly fine glock 21 though. Ive never seen so many misfeeds and other jams in my life. And it was only with the wolf ammo. Gun was clean. I dont know, maybe it was just a bad batch or something.

Reasons to reaload: Cost or performance and most of the time a combination of both.

That's my thoughts exactly. There's no incentive to drop prices. People will still buy, just with a larger profit margin.

Besides the packaging whats the difference between the XM193 and the XM193C?

The Federal Lake City XM193 is what I stock pile. $399 for 1k, now I have the brass to reload.

Wolf Military Classic, $239.99 per 1k. Goes bang every time, clean your rifle after each trip to the range anyways.

I like the Prvi and the Lake City. Lake City would be my preference of the two, however, that is only because it should be within a closer spec of real M193. That said, I have never had issues with either of those types of ammo.

The stuff you list at AIM is the 62gr stuff, not their "M193". Also, it shouldn't even be like M855 because M855 has a steel penetrator. This 62gr stuff is all lead core. Still decent stuff, but I prefer shooting mostly 55gr altogether because your POI can be different with different grain ammo.

Wolf is a lousy choice for defensive purposes as the bullet will likely not fragment in .223 (the jacket is too thick) and it is notoriously underpowered.

My AR15's feed steel cased ammo just fine, but I don't care for Wolf. I get too many blown primers and hard primers in Wolf (no matter the caliber or weapon). Even among steel cased offerings, I prefer something else besides Wolf if I can find it. I have had much better luck with Golden/Silver/Brown Bear and Barnaul.

Recently I ran 40 rounds of Wolf through my SKS. Had a hard primer and when I went to clean it, found out one of the primers had broken off and basically encapsulated the firing pin and the hole through which it pokes through to hit the primer on the bolt face. I tried to get it off of the bolt face but it wouldn't budge with a finger nail so I assembled the weapon and dry fired it to pop it off of there. Back to normal again...

Never had that kind of thing happen with any of the other types of ammo I have shot in any of my guns. However, this wouldn't be the first similar type of instance with Wolf.

My AR15's run steel cased ammo as good as anything else I have. They also run Wolf as good as anything else I have, but I usually get some kind of primer issue with Wolf when I have issues... regardless of the weapon. Funny though, I don't actually think I have ever had a failure with Wolf in my AR15's. But then again I don't shoot a whole bunch of it in them either.

As a general rule, I try to avoid steel cased ammo. Steel cased ammo is more prone to getting stuck in your chamber than with brass, since it doesn't contract quite like brass does after the round is fired.

As a general rule, I try to avoid Wolf if there are other options. Bad QC in my experience.

Probably ok for range usage, but I wouldn't use it for anything else.

It's last resort ammo for me.

As for ammo prices, I don't think they will ever go down. All commodities are UP in price. Anyone who uses Lead, copper, brass, steel in their job knows that the prices are up on these things across the board. May have something to do with inflation, but it certainly has to do with supply and demand in more things than just ammo.

AIM recently told me that their next shipment of 55gr Prvi M193 will be going up to $350/1000 this next time.

I have shot 1000rds of Wolf with no problems. Its fine for casual plinking but accuracy is just not there compared to other ammo
