| Senior Member | little help here. I know there is instructions on here to disassemble bolt, but that is not what I'm asking for. Anyways. Was firing my Mosin 91/30 and I would pull the trigger, here the, is it the sear that holds the bolt back? go down, but the firing pin never struck the primer. Waited a little while, cocked and ejected the old round, put new one in, same thing, but this time when i went to eject this round the firing pin slammed forward after about ten-fifteen seconds. Luckily i still had buttstock still in the pocket and it went off while i was reaching for the bolt. Scared the s**t outta me. Any ideas why this happened besideds cosmo in the bolt, I've cleaned it and boiled all the cosmo off of it. Then oiled up some parts. |

| Senior Member | This is definitely one we need to get Moose and Swede to comment on. Meanwhile, I strongly suggest you remove and detail-strip the bolt, then clean all bolt components with mineral spirits. After you lube the parts and reassemble the bolt, you need to have the headspacing checked, either with a gauge you buy yourself or by a gunsmith. This is one malfunction I haven't run across before, but I'd bet Cosmoline gunking up something in the bolt is the cause. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | Have you torn the bolt Completely down and scrubbed it inside the Pin Channel ?? Then #2 when reassembling use the tool to set the firing pin depth between 75 and 95, When you close the bolt and squeeze the trigger, the whole cocking knob should Snap forward....Smoothley ! Rich
