| On my 1943 Izzy 91/30 on one side of the bolt handle is a star which means the bolt came from Tula, but on the other side of the bolt handle it has a R in a circle identical to the stamp used by Remington. This confuses me and if anyone can offer some insight into this that would be great. |

| Thor's Hammer ![]() | Look closely and see if it is a R or a quality control mark. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/Unknown.jpg Or a Tula hammer in a circle: http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/TulaHammerCircle.jpg

| Wow, that's an oddity if that is a Remington arsenal mark. Hypothesis: a bolt removed from a Remington M1891 that was disassembled, then reassembled with new/replacement parts at Tula and inserted into a Tula-built or overhauled rifle? |

| Yup I have a Tula star on My M39 bolt. So yours could be be a reworked Remington bolt. Hard to say as there is a lot of mix and match, especailly in 1943, as things were heating up.

| Super Moderator ![]() | The Circle R would be the Original stamp...Remington, the star would be a secondary mark, without the arrow it could stand for re build or Inspected... I have connectors like that..several stamps.... Rich

| Southern Ohio Gun Distributors is the full name we abrreviate as SOG. They've got good deals on firearms, but you have to have a Class 01 or a Class 03 (Curio & Relic) FFL license registered with them to get their pricing to show. Here's a link to their site: About Us |
