Quick question. Bolt stampings

On my 1943 Izzy 91/30 on one side of the bolt handle is a star which means the bolt came from Tula, but on the other side of the bolt handle it has a R in a circle identical to the stamp used by Remington. This confuses me and if anyone can offer some insight into this that would be great.

Look closely and see if it is a R or a quality control mark.

Wow, that's an oddity if that is a Remington arsenal mark. Hypothesis: a bolt removed from a Remington M1891 that was disassembled, then reassembled with new/replacement parts at Tula and inserted into a Tula-built or overhauled rifle?

Yup I have a Tula star on My M39 bolt. So yours could be be a reworked Remington bolt. Hard to say as there is a lot of mix and match, especailly in 1943, as things were heating up.

The Circle R would be the Original stamp...Remington, the star would be a secondary mark, without the arrow it could stand for re build or Inspected...
I have connectors like that..several stamps....

Southern Ohio Gun Distributors is the full name we abrreviate as SOG. They've got good deals on firearms, but you have to have a Class 01 or a Class 03 (Curio & Relic) FFL license registered with them to get their pricing to show.
