I don't know but I doubt it. By law, we have to keep a record and keep it for 10 years. It use to be that way anyhow. I haven't looked. I think it may now be, or they're trying to stop private sales? Yes it is a pain to have to wait. And I say this as to why. It was initially to prevent someone from getting pissed off and running down to the gun store, buying a gun and going back in the heat of the moment and killing someone. Now it;s to do a background check and cool off.

But if you already have a gun or guns, the cooling off thing is kind of mute. I mean, if you're pissed and feel the need to lose it and go kill someone, you're not going to go buy a new one and wait for it. Obviously you can just go home. So in the end, it comes down to common sense and having ethics, morals and a conscience.

Then there's the back ground check. If you've had one before, what good does another one do or one do every time you buy a gun do. I mean, if you own a gun, and they have you as having a FOID card, Illinois I'm speaking of, and you get arrested or something raises a flag , why then don't they see you're a gun owner and take it from there? I mean most gun owners, my self most definately, avoid doing anything that would jeopardize losing them and or my rights. It keeps me out of trouble.

So yea, it's a pain but it does have it's purpose. I just think once you're approved, should approve you until or unless you YOURSELF screw it up.

If you go to the NRA's website and check Illinois' current proposed gun control laws up for vote, they're really trying to screw us. And with all the recent shootings, which I might add has/had nothing to do with law-abiding responsible registered gun owners, the odds are greater now some will pass.

It really peeves me off. They know dam well all this is/was drug and gang related and retaliation motivated. Yet we'll be the ones to suffer and get punished and the killings may die down or lessen, but they'll never stop.

They'll, (gang bangers/criminals) will have.still get and still be able to get guns to use. It won't affect them. There's already a ban from owning a handgun in the city of Chicago now, and it hasn't helped one bit. They, those using guns for crime and other are still using and getting them.

All it/they will do is disarm the honest and law-abiding. And I'll move before I let that happen. I'll take a loss on my home before I let that happen.

You gotta understand, jim, all guns are inherently evil, and they have been known to possess people, and take over their minds, which is the cause of school and workplace shootings never mind that the individuals in question might be a little unstable to begin with.

Actually that website is out of date, there is no longer a waiting period in MO. I bought two guns in MO and walked out that day with the gun.

Ney York gets 51 out of 100 and ranks 6th in oppressive gun laws. So far on the thread, only those living in Maryland and California are worse off than us poor citizens of the State of New York. Except for the poor bastards living in New York City - they're even worse off than the rest of us!
