CZ-52 Prices I want one. Local gunshop has one with two mags and a holster for $200 out the door. He has ammo $11 for 72 rounds. Is this a fair price? What should I look for when I inspect the pistol? What is the "pencil" test? Thanks guys.

$200 seems to be about the average street price. You can get one far less if you have a C&R though. As for what to look for, there isn't a lot other than normal fit and function of any 50 year old firearm, mainly condition of the barrel and crown. The pencil test came about from the usually-faulty decockers. Just stick a normal pencil down the barrel, eraser end first, and then, with the hammer back, hit the de-cocker. If the pencil moves very much then the decocker is faulty and letting the hammer push the firing pin and thus firing the gun instead of just de-cocking it. As for the ammo, $11 for 72 rounds is a bit high. 72 round packages is probably Romanian milsurp. It's corrosive as most com-bloc mil-surp is so make sure to run hot water through your barrel after shooting any. The romanian can be had online in bulk for less than the price quoted, AIM has it at $7.95/box of 72 and $120/case of 1,224 if you're comfortable with online purchases. Hope this helps!!! Also, you may want to look into makarov.com or numrich and get a spare firing pin. They are said to be weak and break often although I have had 3 and never broken any (knock on wood).

How much less is "far less"? I didn't even see them on dealer sites. Then you have to figure shipping.

I'll look at the show today. The best price at the show was $200. I bought the one at the shop. Pistol, two mags, two holsters, lanyard, and two boxes of ammo. I really like it. I need to find one for my father. Last edited by Dookiebutt; 04-21-2008 at 06:57 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I bought mine for $200 (+35 Kali registration rape fee) from a local shop in Pacifica. Came with two mags, cleaning rod, and used leather holster. The CZ 52 has been one of the best investments for straight up fun. I like it MUCH more than my Tokarev TT33.

I picked one up a few weeks ago for $200. Only came with the one magazine but the gun is in great shape. Turns out that the shop actually did have the second magazine; they just sold it seperately. I know this because I ran into the guy who bought it. My 52 is nicer though ![]()

Bought a CZ 52 last week for $134 one mag. Gun looks unfired, however the right side grip is ugly-left is perfect. Kind of goofy for the condition of gun. It came out of a large collection. Will put Dennis grips on.
