| I've Always Kind Of Wondered Why .22 LR pistols only seem to come with 10 round magazines. And that was before the ban, too. ![]() |

| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | Hey! Me too! Interested to see if someone has a reason? Something to do with spring length/tension?

| I really don't think there has ever been much of a call for a high capasity .22 handgun. Traditionally the .22 has been viewed as a sporting arm. And while it has been used as both, not a military or primary self defense weapon. And as a sporting arm, there is really not much NEED for a high cap magazine. All this desire for high cap rimfires is the result of fairly recent desire for para-military looking .22's. Another reason is that the rimmed .22 cartridge works best in the single stack magazine. Even the rotary Ruger 10-22 Mags have the rounds stacked in single file. If you notice, all rounds that work in stagger stacked magazines are semi-rimmed. So if you went w/much over 10 rounds single file stacked in the traditional in pistol grip frame magazine, you'd have an magazine that was much longer and extended well past the size of the average human hand width. | The rimmed case requires a magazine shaped like a rainbow if you single-stack too many of them together. They can't be double-stacked at all, the rims will jam up and ride over each other. I think. This is pure guesswork on my part. Last edited by Taurus Fan; 04-26-2008 at 06:59 AM. |

| The .22LR Stoeger Luger holds eleven in the mag, and one up the pipe - a Twelve-shooter! One reason I like it.

Basicaly what it amounts to precise trigger control. Raising the gun very quickly to firing position and firing at the precise moment your sights line up on the target. But not from a steady hold, but rather as they swing PAST the target. It's something gunfighters and trick shooters do. And if you can get good at it, it can become almost second nature to the extent that many people believe they can shoot more accurately doing this than using a traditional hold. Of course it's best at shorter ranges. Which makes it great fun for the .22 enthusiest. Both handgun and rifle. Last edited by Fatstrat; 04-26-2008 at 07:38 PM. | |

| There are 10 rounds in the magazine because Bill Ruger had 10 fingers. Everybody knows that.

| I remember when those things were announced, thought they'd be a hot item but they disappeared quietly. Did they work? I've seen some pictures, they look like Frankensteins monster, all patchworked together. |

| They were just starting to sell, then the silly AWB with it's magazine limits pretty much killed it. They can still be found occasionally. I've seen one at my local range - seemed to work okay for the owner. Loud bugger!!
