| Man, I guess it looks so bad that it only seems like I just washed it. hehe, I actually sanded it down, stained it and refinished it. I will do better next time. I learned a few lessons here. |

| Thanks a lot guys! I never thought you were insulting me Neo. I just thought that maybe it didn't look like it was refinished to you. THat is sort of my fault since I didn't elaborate on my post on what exactly I did with it. I'm just lazy! Actually Earl the kick on this thing is minimal compared to a mosin. My best friends girl was less intimidated by this one. But the groupings on this rifle were excellent. Mind you the range is only 25 yds but I was still getting in at about 4 inches without a lot of practice. The only reasons why I would call this bubba'd is because some of the paint and finish have lumps and runs. and... it is spray paint. I also couldn't get all the stains out of the wood. I didn't want to shave down too much with the sanding (is this possible?) of what the mineral spirits could not remove. But this is my first time refinishing anything so I learned a lot from this. I can't wait to shoot this thing again! Oh btw. A little of the enamel that I sprayed and baked on got into the muzzle and rifling about a centimeter in. Will this affect my accuracy? Judging on how smoothly the bolt moves on the painted action I would say that the baking had evaporated most of the dense matter of paint solvent and probably left about .001 millimeters of film in the barrel and the rest of the metal parts. Hopefully it comes off after firing or brushing with mineral spirits. THis paint is supposed to be chemical resistant once it cures. What do you guys think? | Senior Member | Beauty Marks Sh4d0ww4rri0r: Character : Sir; is what you have. Each will have it's on prominences. Question, as I understand your wording. Can you get rid of the "deep" stains with sanding. Sometimes is the answer Can you use mineral spirits to remove deep stains. Sometimes is the answer Can you over do Sanding. Yes Can you over do mineral spirits. NO? Many stained pieces are considered 'beauty' marks. Now if it bugs you. Find a "stain" as close to the ?damage? stain, and restain the entire firearm to match. Over the original stain, you need to be careful; It may get even darker.
