Think I found MY AR

I've been wanting a good AR to target practice with for a while now. I'm not actually buying the gun. I was tipped off that someone is planning on buying me one and i'm getting ready to start hint dropping. I'm wanting to keep the price to an minimum.

This is the gun I stumbled across. I really like the bull barrel and flat top. Am i missing something.
GRFA2-LPC-DPMS Panther™ Lo-Pro Classic 5.56x45mm

I'm wanting a gun that will shoot 1moa with good ammo. This seems to be the only review on the gun i can find.

Their review is very positive.

That's what i was thinking. Most uppers are running 400 and up.

At the bottom, add the options in this order:
1. 1x8 twist (this will let you shoot a little bit heavier bullets)
2. JP adjustable trigger
3. bipod
4. chrome bolt carrier assy

its a good price because its not much of a AR other then the reciever, plain jane version of it

What is it missing??? Is there something that makes an AR special that i am missing. Not being a smart ass. I really don't know what too look for in a AR.

I just want one that is going to be reliable and accurate. I noticed the barrel is a 1x9 which isn't great, but what else am i missing

I prefer the heavy barrel, and don't want one with the carry handle. It will have a scope mounted so sights are not necessary.

If it were me, I'd pass. You can order a kit from Del-Ton with a chrome lined 1x7 barrel(allowing you to shoot MANY different loads) for $540. Another $100 or so for a stripped lower and you've got, to me, a much more practical rifle. With some decent optics I don't see how the rifle wouldn't give you exactly what you want, which your going to have to buy anyways.

Hey Big Tool.....You would have to look hard to beat that price and especially the quality of DPMS. AR's are habit forming though....I would recommend lots of mags,ammo, and certainly lots of shooting. Good luck with the hints....

I read a jot of good reports on DPMS, price looks OK. Like Pred said, it is cheaper to build, but I would buy a complete for your first AR. After you have taken it apart, cleaned it a few time you well see just how easy they are to build. I would highly recommend the JP trigger, it's adjustable and highly rated.

Well i went to the gun show today and picked up a Bushmaster 20" Target with the stainless barrel.

It has a very ergonomic skeleton stock, with the flat top reciever. The gun has a great feel to it.

I actually didn't buy it at the gun show. Everything there was way overpriced, but after being at the gun show i went to a local dealer who i had spoke to about the gun I bought and they were having a sell and giving two steel mags with the purchase of any AR-15 so i bought from them.

The people I bought it from are great folks, and it is worth me paying more just to do business with good honest folks instead of the cut throats at the guns show.

It was a grand and it came with two extra steel mags. Definitely not the best deal i've ever gotten but i love the gun. I got a centerpoint 3x12 mil dot scope put on the other day and she is a tack driver even when shooting crappy russian ammo.

Thanks about the trim also. That was one of the reasons we bought the house. The contractor did a great job on all the molding, cabinents, and fixtures. Unfourtnately for him he ran out of money 90% through the project.

My dad has built subdivisions and houses and me and him both know what it looks like when a contractor runs out of money.

Needless to say i got a good deal. My monthly note is 200.00 more than the 1br 500sq ft apartment i was renting.

And it was the cheapest place to rent in town.

Big Tool you got an extra Fine AR 15 there, you did good !!! I bought my son a Bushmaster AR M4 and I have one on my list of rifles to accuire.

May be I need to move the AR 15 up a little higher on my list ? LOL There butiful guns !
