DW Fan and all you others who advocate the hit and get tactics, you have the right idea. Hit and run tactics will keep the enemy is a state of confusion and greatly slow their advance. A direct confrontation with a group this size with the fire support they would have could get your complete force annihilated.

Thanks Swede. Maybe Ill have to write chapter 2 The Wally World Defense.

Neophyte you need to get yourself some defensive handgun classes. It will keep your mindset away from the BO KYAGB mode. It sure helped me when I was just starting out. Plus they are a lot of fun.

Im not kidding about only 15 seconds to get ready. You can do that if you practice. In other words to paraphrase Neophyte GYST.

I finally understood BOKYAGB haha...

I like the shoot and scoot doctrine a lot. What would you do if they were mechanized infantry however? ATV and continue with the standard shoot and scoot? IEDs?

Capt'n Mil Coll: Sir; been there done that have lead and traveled
with a bunch or ya'hoos.

Sir; I too have another formula; call it slow to reform; good old boy syndrome.

We were givin a paticular. 500 armed troops a comin; Sir; I just might not be too bad with handguns but dang fellow 500 a comin; my finger would get tired.

FS00008 I think it would be a different strategy with a mech unit. I would storm the local Natl Guard unit and take as much as possible to combat them. The closest one to me has 2 tanks. I imagine they would have morters as well. Just too bad I dont have any RPG's. Maybe they would have a few LAWS rockets or something similar. Going up against a tank with a rifle is not a pleasant thought to me. You can easily make explosives like ETN out of drain cleaner ice packs and sugar substitute. But that takes a long time to make.
Thanks Yugo this was a fun exercise.

After the invadeing Army arrived I would set up colrine gas cylinders from the water company and see which way the wind or breeze is blowing.
I would adjust the cylinders of clorine and then draw them to the area.
If I could rig up away to knock the valves off and let the pressure propel the cylinder of gas to the invadeing army I'd do that.
Or just open the valves and run !!!

While they were getting a good dose of colrine me an my Bud's would pick them off unmercifully .

Yall think that would work ?

One thing I notice about this thread is that no one is talking about improvised artillery. I'm thinking of a funnelator throwing Molotov Cocktails - Orangina bottles by choice because being more or less round, they'll fly well. Range is about 100 meters. Launch three of them from cover, yank up the stakes and run away. Not as good as napalm, but it would give the Bad Guys something to think about.

‘Now i know 500 foot soldiers would not make it far on a Marine base but its fun to imagine.’

Ok, given the above, I'd get my folding chair and something cold to drink. Then I'd sit and watch watch as the USMC rapidly shot these idiots in to little pieces. The next morning I'd read the paper to see if they'd id'ed the idiot that sent 500 'foot soldiers' to attack a majotr USMC base.

Not a bad idea, actually. Think potato cannons! For an engineering class we had to design rockets to be shot out of this potato-gun-like cannon. It was just a PVC pipe (around 1.25" ID) with a large bulb at the end (about 3" diameter and 12" long) with a little hole to spray some gaseous propellant (carb spray, etc). Then you ignite the mixture in the bulb off the projectile goes. With a little trial and error you could build one in a day that could easily launch something a hundred yards (like a beer bottle Molotov Cocktail). Hell, in an urban environment at 100 yards that is plenty of distance for a few guys to pop a few MCs into the ranks to slow them down.

But hell, at that distance you could also just as easily and more effectively take them out one at a time with any decent rifle.
