Tanfoglio TZ75 series 88

Anybody know about Tanfoglio TZ75 series 88?

All my life it's been long guns and shotguns - now I have 2 handguns one which needs a gunsmith's attention (ruger speed six) that's a little loose on the cylinder lock up and a 9mm that won't feed. Thing is I have grown fond of shooting handguns after all these years.

The 9mm luger was an inheratence. I have disassembled it and cleaned it. It will not feed more than 2 rounds of HP ammo. It's a Tanfoglio TZ75 series 88.

Here's the question am I going to have to shoot ball ammo or is there a HP it will feed? Or is this gun just no good at all?

Help greatly appreciated ammo get's expensive!

Am I going to have to shoot ball ammo?

I have a 1911 US Property which will feed nothing but the hardball. I took it to a local gunsmith and asked him what I would have to do to get it to fire HP. He said it would be no problem, would do the work for $35, but it would be a crime to take that gun in original condition (made in 1918) and do that conversion on it. I believed him and now fire only the 230 grain round nose (lead) which I reload. In your case probably it would be a simple matter to have your Tanfoglio modified.

I think you've got a ramp problem, but I'm no pro. Hopefully, someone with more experience will help you out. And in case no one has, welcome to G&G!

Weak recoil spring?

Extractor problems?

Bad Magazine?

Please accurately describe the exact malfuncion, how exactly does it jam?

Must be a problem

[quote=single shot;481039]Anybody know about Tanfoglio TZ75 series 88?

Yours must have a problem. I've owned a TZ75 series 88 for more than 10 years and have never had a problem firing anything through it. I've shot everything from CCI Blazers to Hydra Shock +Ps and never had any trouble.
What is your gun doing? Is it jamming or is it not sliding all the way back to chamber the next round? If the problem is jamming, it could be that your magazine is bad, dirty or defective spring pressure. If it's not getting the slide all the way back to chamber the next round, you may have the wrong rod and spring. TZ75 was made to have several different calibers, interchangeable retaining rods with different spring pressures for each. 9mm, 38 super, 40cal. 10 mm and 41AE being the most common. My bet would be a bad mag. I've seen this on many pistols. To check it, simply load the mag to full capacity. Then use your thumb or finger to slide the top round out quickly as if it was being chambered. watch to see if the next round pops up into place as it should. I've seen many that did not!
Usually the rear of the round pops up but the front does not. Normally caused by a weak spring or some dirt or rust inside the magazine. If the spring feels OK, a little graphite lock lube will normally cure the rest!
Good luck, you actually inherited a very well made gun.
