Folks, I believe it's time for a wake-up call....

Suppressors are NOT evil. I know that, you know that.

Suppressors CAN actually LESSEN the hazards associated with gunfire, as in hearing loss. You know that, and I know that.

That being said, be advised---be WELL advised----that some of you are openly discussing ways to break the law.

I don't like it, but until it is changed, IT IS THE LAW.

You MAY (depending on your State and local laws) purchase an actual suppressor to use on your favorite firearm. Fill out the paperwork, and do it right.

You may NOT improvise a suppressor unless you have the proper paperwork from Uncle Sam. Doing so exposes you to the risk of a long vacation in Club Fed.

Trust me, by making the statements some of you are making, you are demonstrating CRIMINAL KNOWLEDGE, RECKLESSNESS and NEGLIGENCE. These are three base elements of a crime. The last one is INTENT--and all it takes is taking a substantial step toward the consummation of the illegal act.

Please do NOT put your good names, your reputations and your fortunes on the line by declaring that you HAVE, WILL or are WILLING TO break the law.

Buy one legally, and enjoy!

(By the way, for those who can purchase one, Gemtech suppressors are full of teh win! )

The trouble with survival is you don't know who else might be in the area or how close they are.

I'm beginning to think a fishin' pole might be the ultimate survival weapon.
When in this situation its YOUR BUSSINESS to know who is around.

They would make a great offensive weapon, but in SHTF, you're going to be playing mostly defense.

I do not however advocate breaking the law. If society broke down completely there would be no law... In which case, whatever... However, I doubt most SHTF scenarios will result in a total break down of law and order...

When SHTF, the person getting shot never hears the shot to begin with. That is, unless you're such a poor shot and miss with the first one. Even if you wound him, the shock of the bullet hitting him dulls the hearing to the point that he still would not remember hearing the shot. So, make the first shot count and you won't need a silencer.

.22 Lr rifle and .22 shorts

I have used a old Savage 1960's era long barrel .22 bolt rifle with std .22 shorts no louder than a air-rifle or switch to bow & arrow / crossbow

I have a Beeman and a pump Sheridan. They are BOTH louder than the CCI CB Long and CB Short recommendation already stated above.

knightrider,

i thought for sure you were going to go with that.

Being the new guy here is my two cents. I took two pieces of PVC one that fit over the barrel just enough, drill several dozenholes in it and then fit it inside of another piece of PVC only larger but the key here is allow enough space to stuff with Steel wool so the gas can escape through the holes in the smaller piece and into the larger piece.

The larger piece is threaded so you can cap it, drill a hole in the end say 1/2 inch now duct tape that, the hole will allign with the bore.
The PVC must protrude past the muzzle by at least 6" inches to capture the gases.
It work find with long rifle but Subs are better.
Even when gathering food try never to shoot more than one time from any posistion, all it will do is give your position away for others to hunt you or to mark you and follwo you back to where your family and everything you own is food, weapons, water etc.

If that gun is registered to you take the photo and remove the serial. No Trace no names no trouble
And thank you, sir or ma'am, for posting on this board that: (a) you have committed multiple Federal offenses; and, (b) that you have formulated intent and criminal negligence to commit the same again.

I don't have too many posts here, and I am definitely not a moderator, but this seems to be a nice board, and a good place to visit and spend some time. Please, out of the sake of courtesy, do NOT endanger this board--place it in the risk of being closed down--by advocating criminal activity and encouraging others to do the same.
