I have made a killshot on clear timberland at 275 yards with a 270 shooting winchester silvertips.Shot in the back of the head.I have made a 75 yard shot put it in the middle of the whitespot on chest of whitetail.he ran another 75 yards before he fell.that was during the rut and i had grunted him in.the first deer did not know i was there.I have shot another buck at 20 yards in planted pine that had cleared under growth he ran by my stand and i shot him 4 more times with000 buck he ran another 200 yards before dying.I grunted him to.I have shot a buck at 125 yards with winchester ballistic tips in a 30-06 in clear timber and a doe at 150 yards with same kind of round.the last two were shot in 30 degree weather.the others it was 80 90 degrees.the last. I wrote about ran agood ways before dropping in part the round just past thru .they did not know i was there.i have killed many more but i noticed if you grunt or rattle one up they usaually run a little before dying.i think it because of hormones just a theory i have.

I usually hunt a fence line bordering open farmland with no cover, and shots are usually in the 175-225 yd range. This year I'm changing the blind position so that the longest shot should be around 150 yds and hopefully, shorter.
