neither is a good coyote round but i feel that the .17HMR is better and will do the job if you shoot v-maxs and make a good shot in the ear or neck. i have a .17HMR and its very accurate, iv never shot a coyote with it but it does a fair amount of damage on chucks and other things i see in my scope. i have shot a .22WMR and it was a great gun but i still like the .17 better.

My HMR is my coyote gun. She has killed every-one that has came in the cross hairs, I use the CCI TNT's, they are great rounds. However, you must work in it's limits, my belief is not to go passed 80 yards.

Take yours out!! I love the speed of the HMR, even if the animal is running, you don't have to have a huge lead on the animal.
