PISTOL CALIBER

I just got a Bersa 380 pistol from a friend. Is a 380 a 38 caliber gun or is it something similar or something else?

thanks

.380 ACP some companies call it the .380 auto some the 9mm Kurtz. Nothing like the .38 spl, it's kind of like a 9mm only shorter.

9x17 versus the standard 9mm (9x19) or the makarov round (9x18)

^+1, the only thing I'd add is that it does use the standard .355 dia. 9mm bullet. The 9x18 Makarov round uses a .363 dia. bullet.

the .380 ACP (also know as the 9mm kurz) is actually .355 caliber and has nothing to do with any other .38 caliber.

Maybe we should also point out to him that so called .38's are actually .357 caliber. A beginner may not know that.
