The only MN's I've seen comming from the "Eastern Block" are M44's and the T53 is the chicom version (exact copy) of the M44. I have not seen the Czech 91/38, so you may be right, but if it exists it's pretty obscure. Definately a collectable.

It is def a collectable .. I dont think I have ever seen one listed anywhere on gun broker or any dealers. and there are no more type 53s being imported .. there on the no import list..There are some pics of the czech m38 tho

As for the Czech 91/38... If I haven't seen it or heard/read of it before, I have serious doubts that it exists.

Anybody have a pointer?

A.H., when ever you do finally get around to becoming a proud owner of a Mosin, be sure that you've got your insurance card ready in one hand and 911 on speed dial....You're gonna kick yourself so hard in the ass that they'll have to surgicly remove you foot from your behind...all because you'll realise that you never should have procrastinated and just should have picked one up years ago! Just freaking get some already!!!! lol

STEVE....another Mosin that i just found out about, 91/38............ok, if anyone hasnt noticed yet....my FIRST priority is to find M-N's with hidden dovetails....does the 91/38 have that?!? if so....lemme add it to my list of things to do to attempt to break my bank....nobody ever tells me anything....i always gotta surf posts to find any news....i prolly wont find out we've been invaded by obama bin laden till his troops come walking up my driveway to "take away my 'registered' guns"....ROFL....i need coffee, brb.

For collecting...maybe. But for shooting, I would still go for one of the 70 buck Russian ones out there.

oh yeah, for $350 i could see owning that gun....as long as someone else was paying for it

seriously, $350 for an M44....ehhh, I wouldnt pay that, but thats my opinion....if there was an M44 that was sighted in without bayonet even attached to gun, i'd prolly hit it up....but i dont really like the bulky M44 forestocks.

If anyone would like to bid on one of these Polish M44s, it's currently only @ $120.00 and the auction ends on 5/14/2008 @ 3:45:47... Have to be registered to bid though... Good luck for anyone who tries.
Polish M44 .cal 7.62x54R (Auction ID: 100415, End Time : May. 14, 2008 15:45:47) - Century International Arms Auction

P.S. they have a few Mosins up for auction also. A an oddball or 2 also.
