A break-in seems like the most likely shtf situation that most people will face. What do you all have to defend your place?I live far enough out that it could become a protracted engagement, so I have a Bersa .380 and a JC Higgins sawed off pump action. Plenty of ammo for both, what about you folks?

I have an .357 mag and a pistol grip 12 gauge. Sawed off's are illegal here.

I have a 12 ga.Newhaven 600AT(mossberg 500), .44 cal. '51 navy colt, .30-30 Marlin 336cs, and a .40cal. sigma they are on either side of my bed. Oh and a Ka Bar.

The 12 gauge shotgun is your best defensive option especially since
a home invasion will most likely be accompanied by murder on the mind of the perpetrator.

I would load it first shot triple ought buckshot second shot slug the back to buckshot and so on as the invader may be on dope and possibly will have some type protective vest under his coat or shirt.

Measure distances that you might find such as your bedroom to the end of a hallway, back of living room to front door, kitchen area to kitchen door for the back yard and so on.

Then take time to practice hitting torso sized targets at those distances
prone, kneeling, crouched, and standing.

The most important thing in a home invasion is for you to take the offense
thus gaining the psychological momentum of the event.

Make certain your shotgun barrel is cylinder bore.

Well, my main line of defense is my 1911 (with plenty of swords and spears to fall back on... lol). I have a number of rifles, but they would all be likely to over-penetrate. As for bullets for my 1911, I have Glaser Blue Safety Slug bullets (copper jacket filled with #12 shot and a hard plastic ball in the tip to make it all come apart after hitting its target). I also have some Speer Gold Dot HP's.

Just remember that if there's anyone else sleeping in another part of your house that buckshot can reach them too.
I have 3 dogs in the yard, a total of 350 lbs. They are my first line of defense.
BTW, what percentage of home invaders are wearing Body Amour? They have quite a few invasions in San Antonio and none of them have used BA.

6 shot Mossberg 500 tactical 12 gauge with the adjustable stock removed when its not being fired at the range. I don't mind if people know, not much you do to defend against a 12 gauge.

A 12 guage loaded with #4 buck is a good idea as it dosen't over penatrate and had more shot that 00 buck. But both are a great choice. But I wouldn't underestimate 20 guage with #3 buck either as it has less recoil.

A big dog in the yard, a little dog in the house (no way to sneak by both) a riot shotgun in the corner (12 guage) a Glock 22 and a flashlight in the nightstand. I sleep pretty good.

I am trying to talk the wife into a Dillon Areo in the bed room(thats a mini gun) of course my neighbors are not for it.

A pump is nice, but IMO, a short double barrel is more intimidating.

But you don't get that ti-chak noise with a double barrel that you do with a pump...thats one of the most intimidating sounds around!
