What is F or T marked?

Ok.. What does it mean to be "T" marked, or any of the other markings of this type?

"F" marked FSB which is slightly taller than a standard FSB.

Ok, I see the marks, but still don't know the purpose.
What do the markings signify?

I'm sorry if this seems stupid to you, but I'm a newby at this and really don't have a clue.

LOL, no, it doesn't seem stupid to me. The only way to learn is to ask questions and jump right in. As far as I know it's to help remember where you put optics and stuff like that. It's the only real purpose they serve, If you know you stuck your Aimpoint one slot back from T(insert #), if you ever take it off you'll know where it goes. Scopes especially, one notch forward or back could really screw up things.
