Those Spanish Guardias any good? How do they shoot? Any feeding problems? What about the short stock? Can they shoot regular .308?
Heavy rifle, I bet.

Ouch!

I'm turning forest green with envy at the moment.... I married an antigunner, and divested myself of my arms and my old copies of Guns and Ammo, etc., 36 years ago.

Now, she has finally decided we need a gun or two around the house. (Be still, my quaking heart!) Based on my salary/debt ratio, it looks like I'm going to have to go for maybe a CZ52 and a bolt weapon. I've seen the Yugo Mausers (27/48/etc) fairly reasonable on GunBroker. Should I go Yugo? Or M-N Mod 44?

(I think my keyboard is ready to short out from all the drooling! I grew up around WWI-era bolt actions in cracker barrels, and trail-hunted deer in Minnesota with an old Berthier. Just to be able to handle and shoot that many Mausers is a blue-sky dream!)

Hi TheWanderingMin Wecome to G&G. You may want to get a Mosin 91/30 for around the $80.00 range. Easier to shoot than a M44.

I tell ya Sarge and I mean no disrespect but you are blowing everyone away with your collection. You should just start a new thread and tell us a little about each type of Handguns, Rifles, FA's and whatever else you may have. I think I can honestly say pretty much everyone on here would love to hear more.

Exclamation

My X liked guns, enjoyed shooting my MP 40. When we split up her and the boy friend stole 36 guns + 5 or 6 FAs. I convinced her the FAs should come home or the feds would have her ass. I failed to mention that the same thing applied to regular guns. The FAs came home, but none of the accessories. I tried to file a police report and when they found out that we were getting divorced they would Not let me do so - it was a domestik dispute! Thus they were not put on the national registry and I could not collect from the insurance. I managed to recover 12 rifles a couple of months later. Never saw the rest - probably went out of state.
Naa, not worth the time. I've only got another 100+ rifles and 80 pistols. oh, and 2 RPGs & 1 mortar.
I go from Civil War thru Viet Nam.
Actually a good thing she went away - I've spent my $$$ on guns & accesories for the past 36 years instead of a women.

Then when they passed that silly Law in 1986 ( while I was in the Wilderness living without TV, radio and all that) The price now means I will never get to own one , unless I hit the lottery...Or find that Big nugget out there in the hills...LOL
Dam DAM, DAM !!!

By the way, I have a set of Reloading dies for the Sturmgehwehr Rifles...I had some parts but I sold them!

Just one, a M48 that will keep 5 shots within 2 inches at 100 yards on a constant basis with open sights and mil-surp ammo. It fits me well and shoots so good.

Thumbs up

Can't say as I favor either one. Will be out with the niece & nephew shooting both, among others, next weekend.
My favorite is a G or K 43. I've hunted with one or the other - several different over the years - since 1959.

And that's what i have....a baker's dozen of Mausers....all the same model too attempting to resurrect them, considering all are in 'worse-than-poor' condition, they are all M71/84's. Gonna takes pics of resto process, if you wanna see/imagine what they look like atm, go here Non-Dealer Items and the one in pic looks like a new rifle compared to mine

Sarge, excuse my ignorance. But what are the bottom 3 in this picture? Is that what they called grease guns? That's what they look like anyhow?

What a beautiful collection you have. What a collection of history. It's great to know they are still around. I hope you have someone you can leave them to other then some museum?

I am thinking about refinishing the stock.

I also had a Turkish Mauser. It was OK but man it was HUGE!! I gave it to my brother because he said he wanted it and then he sold it at a garage sale for $40 without telling me.

Would love to get a K98.
RM, I'd first wash the stock with Murphy's wood soap, 1/2 cup to a gallon of water and use cheese cloth and see what that did for it. It looks like it has a lot of grime from hands and powder from over and through the years. It would only take a half hour to an hour maybe if that to do. You might find it's all you'll need or want to do then? Can't hurt anyhow.
