| There is nothing borderline about them Tactical, most all of them believe they are justified doing whatever it takes to make their point including terrorist acts, those that do are criminals not activists and deserve prison not air time!

| Senior Member | And I just read that over 94% of the animals they "saved" last year were euthanized. That's a great record for a buncha nitwits who swear they love animals! The pounds are doing way better, with about 34% of their intake euthanized. And those animals are the dangerous ones, or the ones who are in such bad shape, they are not expected to survive.

| Anyone here read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? I wonder what PETA would do about a talking cow that WANTS to be eaten and does everything possible to make itself as tasty as possible

On the one hand, I really feel for the horse. What other animal would run their heart out for you? She just didn't have it in her to quit, and broke her ankles giving it her all. What a courageous creature. It's really a shame, but I don't see how it could have been prevented, and don't think as a general rule race animals are mistreated. On the other hand, PETA espouses the philosophy, "A Rat is a Dog is a Pig is a Boy," equating all life on the same moral plane. Uh, sorry, if it's between my baby and a slice of bacon, well the pig is gonna lose every time! Actually, when you read the above statement, you quickly realize they don't have all their oars in the water to begin with anyway. ![]() Norm Last edited by Svashtar; 05-09-2008 at 06:17 PM.

They're also hypocrites. one of their highest ranking members, Senior Vice President MaryBeth Sweetland, uses insulin. Additionally, humans have all the physiological earmarks of mammalian omnivores. It's not just the teeth; the size and layout of our digestive system indicates this as well. A lot of you guys know horses and cows and sheep and other pure herbivores. Notice how their eating behaviors are not the same as ours? Humans don't toss up cud, or those pellets rabbits do. We also don't have the huge guts (I mean that in the technical sense) our cousins the gorillas do. Oh yeah...we also can't really eat grass. Most mammalian herbivores have no problems there. Carnivores, on the other hand, have a much shorter digestive system than we do. Big cats bolt down and poop meat at a rate we couldn't match healthily at all. Interestingly, very few large mammals that eat meat are pure carnivores. Cats come the closest, but bears, wolves, mustelids, and primates all have a varied diet. Mind you, we've made some alterations to the house cats. Mine's Traditional Siamese and he can eat rice. But the dobermans my grand-uncle raised always loved carrots. I myself eat low-fat meat for protein only on the days I'm lifting weights. Every so on weekends I'll just go eat whatever the hell I like. I eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies and I'm apparently pretty healthy last time I was checked. We evolved to hunt because the protein let us grow more quickly and larger, but we can't live on it. But I'll tell you something else. Peta can have my pets when they pry them from my cold, dead hands! ![]() - Coeloptera

| oh my, that was so funny! I'd no idea Penn & teller were so political? Then again, I don't get out much! Eight Belles was a real tragedy. Some folks say she might've been too young. Others, that a filly shouldn't have been raced to begin w/. I think we can speculate all day, but blaming the jockey is the last thing we ought to do. Nobody wants to lose a prized horse, especially one as promising as beautiful 8 Belles. terrible tragedy. Nothing more. No blame. As for Peta... as a livestock owner, well, I could tell you stories.... |
