Rem 700 BDL Bbl length

There appear to be two barrel lengths for the BDL in .30-06; 22" and 24". Does anyone know what kind of effect on accuracy that 2 inches is going to have?

I have several musings on the situation, any or all of which could be wrong:
I would say that the bullet is stable before 20 inches. As such, the difference looks like whatever velocity is lost, or not gained, and the possibility of unburned powder in the shorter barrel. If the velocity is consistent it should maintain accuracy. Loading with a faster burning powder would take care of any powder failing to burn before that bullet is out and gone, if in fact it is even a concern.

Any thoughts about there being an accuracy "issue" with the 22" barrel?

barrel length will not affect bullet stability.

+1............and in my opinion in a 30/06 class of cartridge...not enuff velocity to lose any sleep over EITHER!

If you were using iron sights it makes the front and rear sites closer together and that's less accurate.
Don't know enough about velocity or powder burning time to comment on that.

The barrel length will not affect the accuracy. On the other hand, the trigger, bedding and barrel harmonics will affect the accuracy. This is also assuming that the bullet you want to use is compatable with the rate of rifling twist.
