After practicing several times I've mastered this *#@^* bolt. Now all I need to learn is how to keep from pinching my finger under the connecting bar. I bought another M39 yesterday........excellent condition. The barrel is plum brown???????. Is this common? It has a B barrel dated 1941. The stock is in almost new condition but it was very dry. It soaked up the first coat of BLO mixed with terp like a sponge. I have my TV and recliner in what used to be a bedroom and the floor is littered with these old rifles and smells like terp. Of course this room is my aux. shop, dining room and reading room.

You should use Mineral spirits to cut BLO instead of Terp....

I've tried both and can't really tell any difference except that the terp. seems to dry faster. Why do you think ms. is better.........maybe something I'm not seeing? I'm open to any suggestions.

That B Barrel is called "plum". It really makes the rifle stand out. It comes from the Belgian's steel and/or their blueing process.

Too bad that only a few inches of the barrel are visible.
