Could you make your own guns?

Well, I was surfing youtube and I found this guy. I immediately subscribed to his channel. The guy makes his own guns from mostly scratch. The only one he uses a piece of a real gun is his one shot pistol, in which he uses part of a revolver. Here's his shotgun.

If I was a bit crazier I'd ask him for plans to build my own. Isn't this nuts?

I WOULDN'T

Besides the legal implications, you enter a world of metallurgy and
pressures. Few people have the training necessary to choose
components for a gun from random steel. It could easily be
more dangerous for you than an attacker.

What would the legal implications be, now that you mention it? On the video comments page he said he used nothing but stuff from the hardware store. Even the shell "casings" he used were homemade. The only thing bought was the powder and the primers.

you should check out his videos.

You can build your own legally - full auto and cannons excepted - but you can't sell them without the proper licenses and permits.
The limiting factor is your knowledge and skill - just how advanced can you get?
I could do a basic muzzle stuffer with my current tools - but I'd need a good milling machine to get as advanced as I'd really like.

If I was going to do it as a business, I'd probably hire our own BRG3 to ramrod the engineering side of things.

Big Dog,
You can Build Black powder smoothbore Cannons Legally and in any size you want, as there are no BATFE restrictions on Primitive Weapons ! You can also build Gatling Guns as Long as they are hand crank Operated !!!
As far as the Guy in the Video, That is a ZIP GUN and Highly Illegal...classed as a short barreled shotgun, and he is a fool for using Water pipe...It will come apart on him eventually !

I think he's German, so there might not be the same restrictions there.

I'd like to build my own cannon, that sounds fun.

Here is My 43 mm Black powder Cannon/ mortar...
I used a piece of 4-1/4" diameter Cold rolled steel shaft from an old Copper mine in the early 1900's and blind bored it on a large lathe one winter...
Took a week to bore out. It shoots Golf balls or 1 lb.Lead balls.

Man in my neighborhood made a cannon just for fun and it blew up, killing him. I wouldn't screw around with that sort of project.

There are more severe restrictions in Germany.

I agree with Tauras Fan. If you want a cannon a couple of manufacters make em. They are just small models but they are comercially made and I would have no problem using them.

Nice!

I've made potato guns that run off of propane tanks before, and I'm not dead yet.

It's just nice to have that kind of DIY resourcefulness. What if we get in a Jericho-type situation and you had no guns?

If you have the right materials and tools a cannon is easy to make.

The handcannon, what I believe was the first man held firearm was about as dangerous to the person fireing it as the one being shot at.The first shoulder weapons were about as bad if they were castiron. They used some bronze but it wasnt much better. sam.

I'm a Machinist and Gunsmith so I deal with Pressures all the time. I designed mine so you couldn't blow it up with a barrel full of powder...Mine generates enough energy to slide the 80 lb. barrel back 6-10 ft. LOL

When I was a kid I built a handgun out of a .25" pipe with a cap on one end. I built it into an old cap pistol so that the hammer hit the end of the pipe cap. I would put a little black powder in the barrel and seat a patched lead ball over it. Then I would stick what was called a "stick em cap" (just like a single cap in a roll of caps except it had glue on one side), over a flash hole I drilled in the pipe cap. It never blew up and I didn't get arrested, but then if a kid did the things I did now he would probably end up behind bars. We had some exciting times with pipe bombs and rockets as well.

I have made all kinds of firearms. I can make a .22 from a car antenna and a ballpoint pen. I can also create over 10 different explosives from common household ingredents. I just cant spell worth a crap.
